Village Missionaries are true missionaries in the sense that they enter sometimes hostile enviornments for the purpose of building a Christ-centered fellowship of believers. It is unfortunate when the local church we serve is among the "enemies" of the gospel (at least in our perception), but if God has called us to serve the gospel He will enable us to persevere in the process of making disciples of Jesus Christ, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to observe everything [Jesus] commands us. Brothers, let us pray for one another!

I KNOW IT IS DIFFICULT. IT SEEMS A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THEIR OWN IDEAS OF WHAT GOD IS LIKE. FOR THE MOST PART, MOST OF THESE IDEAS ARE, EITHER TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT, OR NOT EVEN IN THE BIBLE. A LOT OF THEM WANT TO PUT GOD IN A BOX, SO TO SPEAK, AND IF THEY HAVE A PROBLEM, THEY MAY OPEN THE LID A CRACK, AND MAYBE, GET A LITTLE, OUT OF CONTEXT IDEA, OF HOW TO HANDLE A PROBLEM. MAYBE EVEN, COVER THE BOX WITH A BLANKET AND BLAME GOD FOR THE PROBLEM. SINCE JESUS IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE AND THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO THE FATHER BUT BY CHRIST.AND HE DIED, ON THE CROSS, WAS BURIED, AND ROSE AGAIN. THE PROFICIES HE FULLFILLED, THE EVIDENCE, MANY PEOPLE (OVER 500) HAD SEEN HIM AFTER HE AROSE. THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. THERE COMES TO A POINT WHEN PEOPLE CEASE TO LISTEN, EVEN THE ROCKS WILL CRY OUT. WHICH IS HAPPENING EVENTHOUTH SOME SCIENTISTS ARE HIDING THE EVIDENCE. JUST LIKE WHEN THE TIME OF THE FLOOD, PEOPLE WERE BEING WARNED THAT THE FLOOD WAS COMING, NOW THAT CHRIST WILL RETURN, FIRST IN THE CLOUDS ( THE RAPTURE), SECOND WHEN HE SETS HIS FEET ON THE MOUNT OF OLIVES TO PUT AN END OF ARMAGEDDON AND THE BIGINING OF THE MILLIUM (A 1000 YEARS). JESUS LOVES YOU SO MUCH THAT HE SUFFERED AND DIED, HE WAS BURRIED, AND HE ROSE AGAIN. HE DOES NOT WANT ANY ONE TO PERISH, BUT TO COME TO HIM, IN A PERSONAL WAY, AND BE INHERITED INTO HIS FAMILY. NOT TO JUST FLOAT ON A CLOD, BUT HAVE ETERNAL JOY, PEACE AND COMFORT. A PLACE WHERE THIEVES CAN'T STEAL, MONTHS CORUPT YOUR HEAVENLY TREASURES. TRUST IN CHRIST TODAY

We must drop our expectations of what we personally plan on being in place at our new assignment.
Yet come with expectancy at what God can do if we trust Him and follow His daily direction through through His Word, His Spirit, and our willingness.
Our humility, patience and gracious attitude open the way for God to work.

Great article. I serve with another mission in a rural American field and can identify with much of this. The matter of doctrinal decline intrigues me. I'm not allowed to explore doctrinal distinctives in my mission, but am convinced that a solid foundation can be reconstructed. Sounds like your resigned missionary wanted to skip that part and impose a narrower 20th Century popular evangelicalism -- "Receive Jesus or else!" It doesn't work that way.

While I agree that Satan doesn't give up territory easily, I am also convinced he is powerless before God and God's Word. God is on His own time frame, not ours.
