KASLO, BC

dec-27-sorenson.jpgWe had a special service and prayer for the persecuted church—many participated—and it went well. Afterward we had a potluck, short lesson, and hymn sing. We’ve also spent some quality time with the lady who recently made a commitment to the Lord, and she seems to be doing very well. And, we’ve been helping a young mother who is alone and living out of town—she has no water or phone and only wood heat. Olaf & Bonnie Sorenson

LAKE CAMANCHE, CA

dec-19-burkharts.jpgOur Thanksgiving project this year fed 30 families in our community that otherwise wouldn’t have had a Thanksgiving meal. We have three businesses that donate the turkeys, and our church puts together the rest of the baskets. They are then delivered in a laundry basket so the people have something useful to keep. Most importantly, each family receives a Bible and information about the church. There is an agency we work closely with in the county; four of the ladies working in the agency said that all of their churches are larger than ours, but they are extremely impressed with the way our church is tending to our community. They feel we have the best Thanksgiving outreach by far. Pray the Lord will use these opportunities to strengthen our ability to reach others for Christ and to strengthen our community.  Bill & Lisa Burkhart

KETTLE FALLS, WA

masons-dec-12.jpgThere’s a young man in high school that has been in our Sunday school class ever since Amber and I have been teaching. I have never seen a young man listen so intently to a Sunday school lesson! A couple of weeks ago a man taught a short evangelism seminar here, and he asked if there was anyone there who felt like they really didn’t know Jesus Christ as their own personal Savior. This young man raised his hand, and that evening the Lord drew him to Himself. Now this young man and I are meeting once a week. There is nothing more fun to see than a brand new Christian search his Bible!! Praise the Savior! Danny & Amber Mason

OLMSTEDVILLE, NY

hanemans-dec-5.jpgWe had our annual Thanksgiving dinner for the church, and things went great. We had 85 in attendance and everyone had their fill. Some hunters came to the dinner, and one of them reached for his wallet as he was saying good-bye and wanted to know how much dinner was. I asked him if he enjoyed the dinner, and he said yes. I told him that was all the payment we needed, and he shook his head in disbelief. One of my elders was there and saw what had happened. I looked at him and said, “That response is exactly why we do this every year.” Last year we had a special Thanksgiving dinner for an area senior living home, where we went to them and prepared everything in their commons area. We did it again this year, because the residents hadn’t stopped talking about it from last year. Everyone had a great time, and again they were very thankful that we as a church cared for them enough to have dinner for them. Chad & Jenny Haneman
