August 23: Terry & Jane Baskin, Grindrod, BC
Grindrod is in south central BC, in the lush green Shuswap River Valley. There are dairy farms, seed crops, fruit orchards, and vineyards, but there is also a fairly high unemployment rate due to lack of industry and a drop in the Canadian lumber business. Many folks come to this area for the mild climate and slower pace of life. Our church was built in 1918 and is a drawing card for some folks because of its “little country church style” and friendly atmosphere. As pastor, I have been very encouraged by the involvement of so many of our folks in our 3 weekly Bible studies. What a joy to see their hunger and thirst to know God better and walk more closely with Him. Jane and I would greatly appreciate prayers for our family, that we would glorify the Lord in serving Him here, and that we would reach out and share the Gospel message with the many folks around us who are without Christ. Pray for God’s wisdom and gracious provision for our need for more meeting space, especially to accommodate children’s ministries.
