October 4: Archie & Lucille Smith, Lapeer, NY

SmithsLapeer is located in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Central NY. Dairy and crops are the main industries immediately surrounding the church.  The church is made up of a well balanced variety of age groups and the people are known for their kind hearts and generous giving to those in need.  Please pray for the quick completion of the building project.  This tool is very important in the overall plan for being able to effectively reach our area and the unsaved with the Gospel and for enhanced ministry to the saints. Please pray for renewed commitment to consistent attendance and inviting friends. Please pray as well for a renewed dedication to service that comes with the new fall schedule. Special note regarding Archie’s health: In August Archie suffered either a stroke or a heart attack. Lucille thanks everyone for their prayers for Archie; he is doing better, but has problems with his sight, still having trouble focusing.

September 27: Mike & Faye Finley, Double Adobe, AZ

Finley-MWe are 45 minutes from the historic site of “The Gunfight at the OK Corral,” and we can see the mountains of Mexico from our front yard. Christ is making impact through us in the surrounding towns of Douglas (Agua Prieta, MX: 150,000), Bisbee, McNeal, and El Frida, as well as here in Double Adobe. New Tribes Missions Aviation airport is nearby with NTM missionaries in the church.  Pray for the new families, also the Bisbee Bees kids’ baseball team as a point of contact for new families. Pray for the exposition of the Word to make impact with demonstration of the Spirit and power in the midst of our weakness. Pray for Kids Klub, Club 678, and Valley Youth in Christ (high school). Pray for our son Jonathan’s impact in France and greater Europe and French-speaking Africa. We are deeply enjoying our ministry here, and are grateful to God for His grace in Christ.

September 20: Bill & Lorna Powell, District Representative, Eastern Canada

PowellsWe live in Corbeil, ON, on the solid rock of the Canadian Shield. Ours is a French community and we have wonderful neighbours who have helped us out in many ways over the years we have been traveling for Village Missions. There is no evangelical church in our community, but recently we’ve made contact with a few French Canadian families through a Bible study that Lorna has had with a few ladies. We travel an hour to attend the Village Missions church at Chetwynd, ON. We would appreciate your prayers for wisdom and guidance as we visit the missionaries from Saskatchewan to Nova Scotia and speak at the Bible Colleges and Seminaries from Nova Scotia to Alberta!

September 13: Andy & Stacy Taylor, Bridge, OR

Taylor-Andy-Stacy-Sept-13As a mountain town with a population of only about 200, Bridge wouldn’t have a church if it weren’t for VM. (Admittedly, you might have to count some pets too, to get 200.) We’re about 40 miles from the coast in southern Oregon, and populated mostly by people who are retired or employed in logging. Bridge Community Church has been affiliated with VM for 55 years, and with an attendance of about 70, is having a great impact on the community. We are blessed to be part of this church family. Please pray for the discipleship plan that is growing among the men of the church, and for Camp Fircroft, where we cooperate with several other VM churches. We had almost 300 kids at camp in July!

September 6: John & Heather Kingrey, Meridian, ID

Kingreys-Sept-1Ten Mile Community Church is 10 miles SW of Boise, ID, surrounded by many new subdivisions. We like to refer to Ten Mile as “rurban,” a place of unlimited opportunities for ministries. Our leadership is willing to try new and different things to accomplish God’s vision for our church. In July we finished Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University,” with over 100 people attending, 30 of whom came from our community and are not part of the church. We’ll offer it again in January. In August we hosted Idaho Fish & Game Hunter Safety to serve and reach out to our community. Pray for our church family as we share the Good News through our varied ministries: singles, youth, music, children’s ministries, preschool, daycare, nursing home, Awana, and women’s & men’s ministries. Pray for our pastoral staff. Pray as we seek various ways to communicate to our community Ten Mile’s slogan, “Where Faith and Life Connect.” Pray that our church family will capture the vision to reach our community of unlimited opportunity. Pray for God’s guidance for future expansion plans.
