As You Pray This Week

prayer-requests3Thank you for bringing Village Missions before the Lord. Please keep these special needs in mind as you pray this week.

Brian and Carole Wechsler give praise for a good visit at the annual Missions Conference of Shan Creek Community Bible Church. Pray that God will stir our hearts even more to bring the Gospel to every nation. Pray also that we will not forget that North America is a mission field.

Pray for Brian as he represents Village Missions this week at Calvary Bible College and Seminary Missions Conference. Please pray for good interactions with the students and faculty and that God will call at least two from Calvary into Village Missions. Brian will be presenting two seminars to students on Thursday, January 28.
Praise for God moving in the hearts of people to give to Village Missions. With some cutting of expenses and increased giving, we are in the black. We thank the Lord for His provision!

Thank you for praying!

January 31: Ted & Jeanette Rivers, French Gulch, CA

RiversThis church was started in 1981 and met in the local school building until 2000, when we moved into a beautiful new building (after 14 years of hard work, faithful people, and God’s grace). Located about 12 miles west of Redding near Whiskey Town Lake, French Gulch is an old gold mining town with a population of about 350. We’re a bedroom community to Redding; many of the people commute for work, and many others are retired. Pray that we will have God’s wisdom & power to reach the lost and disciple the saved. Pray for the start of a youth group and Awana Club that are on the drawing board. We praise God for those who have trusted in Christ this past year and for some new families now attending. Praise Him for the growth in our teen Sunday School class.

As You Pray this Week…

prayer-requests2Dear Praying Friends:

Thank you for bringing Village Missions before the Lord. Please keep these special needs in mind as you pray this week.

1. Praise the Lord that the Missions team from churches in Kansas and Maine were safe in Haiti and are now safely home. For the details of their journey, please read Brian Wechsler’s blog.

2. Praise for a wonderful visit to our new field in Halsey, OR. The congregation is very warm and friendly and looking forward to their first Village Missionary family. Learn more details of the trip here.

3. Please pray for Brian and Carole Wechsler as they speak at the annual Missions Conference at Shan Creek Community Bible Church near Grants Pass, OR. The theme of the conference is “Prayer and the Missionary Enterprise.” Shan Creek is served by Village Missionaries Guy and Geni Shield. The conference starts Thursday evening, Jan. 21 and runs through Sunday.

4. Pray for Brian as he travels Monday to represent Village Missions at Calvary Bible College and Seminary Missions Conference. Please pray for good interactions with the students and faculty and that God will call at least two from Calvary into Village Missions. January 24: Larry & Ginny Goin, Westport, WA

GoinsWestport is on a small peninsula on the WA coast. The main area businesses are fishing (both commercial and sport-fishing), tourists, and cranberries. Pray for outreach into the community, for boldness and wisdom in sharing the Good News, and for the unsaved parents of children who attend Sunday School. Pray for the various Bible studies and for discipleship studies with individuals. Pray for the spiritual growth of new believers and those who have recommitted their lives to Christ recently.

As You Pray this Week

prayer-requests1Dear Praying Friends:

Thank you for bringing Village Missions before the Lord. Please keep these special needs in mind as you pray this week.

Brian will be speaking this Sunday at the Grace Bible Community Church in Halsey, Oregon, south of Eugene. Halsey is a field that has recently requested leadership from Village Missions. They have been without pastoral leadership for over two years. Like many rural congregations, they are without a parsonage, so please pray for them as they look for a suitable home. Pray for wisdom in assigning the right couple to Halsey.

Pray for wisdom as we process applications for our spring Candidate School.

A former missionary and longtime friend of Village Missions was in a serious car accident. Please pray for Jim Cook and his wife Vickie. They last served our field in Panton, VT.

Praise for the good response from donors at the end of the year. We rejoice that we can continue moving forward in keeping country churches alive.

January 17: Dean & Gwen Bousman, Elk Creek, CA

BousmansThis northern CA ranching community has a population of 250, in the foothills of the Mendocino Forest and 20 miles from Willows on I-5. At age 19, Walter Duff worked on a ranch nearby for room & board while holding meetings at the church. For our Old West Bible Camp, VBS, and other ministries, children come from the ranches, the Grindstone Rancheria (small Native American settlement 7 miles away), and from Elk Creek. We also host an annual Thanksgiving meal for the town that includes the shut-ins. Gwen leads the women’s Bible study and I lead the home Bible study. Pray as we call on ranchers, the Rancheria, and townsfolk, that souls will be saved. The gospel is too important not to share.

January 10: Kevin & Leslie Hausman, Venango, NE

HausmansVenango is in SW Nebraska, right on the Colorado border. Wheat and corn are the main crops. After several years of drought, we were hard hit with hail storms this summer which destroyed most of the crops in the area. Please pray for our Awana Club, Jr & Sr High youth groups, and men’s & ladies’ Bible studies. Pray also for the finances of those who lost so much with the hail storms. Please pray for wisdom regarding the declining population in our area.
