As You Pray This Week

prayer-requests3Thank you for bringing Village Missions before the Lord each week. Please join us in praying for the following:

Praise for the many financial and prayer partners who have enabled Village Missions to keep country churches alive. In these churches, people who otherwise would not have heard about Jesus will celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

Please pray for the various Easter week celebrations that will occur in churches served by Village Missions, such as the Easter musical in Springview (see this week’s Stories from the Field). Pray that non-Christians will attend, will hear a clear presentation of the Gospel, and receive Jesus Christ as Savior.

April 4: Tim & Sue Heath, Lake Tapps, WA

HeathFormerly a rural area east of Tacoma, subdivisions are now replacing forests and farms. Because we are centrally located, we have people who live and work throughout the South Puget Sound area. Lake Tapps provides people with many recreational opportunities and Mt. Rainier is just to the south. Pray that God will use our small groups to continue to build healthy relationships within our church body. Pray that as we reach out into our community, people would come to know Christ and have a healthy church family in which to grow.

As You Pray This Week

prayer-requests2Thank you for bringing Village Missions before the Lord each week. Please join us in praying for the following:

Please pray for God’s comfort for Jim and Brenda Harkabus, in the loss of their daughter Faith. Please also pray for their congregation, as Faith grew up in their midst. The memorial service will be this Saturday at 1:00 pm. Brian and Carole will be attending and Brian will be preaching Sunday at the church.

Pray for Mike Jones and the District Representatives as they review applications and references, and conduct interviews of the applicants for our spring Candidate School. Pray for great wisdom to discover those who are being called to the ministry of Village Missions.

Praise for good visits for Brian and Carole in the Phoenix area. Brian preached at Venture Out and then spoke briefly at Palm West Community Church. They also visited several donors in the Phoenix area.

March 28: Bill & Lisa Burkhart, Lake Camanche, CA

BurkhartsWe’re in the foothills near Jackson, CA. When we first came here, this was a retirement and recreational community; then there was a large housing boom and many people moved into the area. With the current economic downturn, many of those have now moved away. Pray for God to bring healing to our family, renew our strength, and use us as His instruments to reach the people of Camanche with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray that we continue caring for Camanche through Christ. Pray for a solution to the church’s logistical challenges. We have no building of our own, and the landlord lost the building we were using. The building reverted back to a previous owner, who asked us to leave, so it has sat empty for over a year. Meanwhile we’ve been allowed to meet in the community center, but it is logistically challenging to say the least. We’re glad to have a place to meet, but we only have two rooms. We use one as a sanctuary that seats 40-50 comfortably, and a smaller room for all the children. We need more room, if we’re going to be able to meet the needs of our community.

March 21: Bruce & Audrey Chikalla, Bangor, CA

Chikalla-Bruce-Audrey-Sept-1Bangor is an hour north of Sacramento at the base of the Sierra Nevadas, surrounded by the Sierra Nevada foothills, rolling pasture land, and beautiful mountains. It’s a very scenic area, no matter where you travel around this northern CA town. Bangor has about 500 people, with no central town area besides a Feed Store, Post Office, and the Bangor Store. Homes are spread out with a diverse community of people. We’ve been at Bangor for 3 years now and the congregation is wonderful. We have a strong leadership team and faithful people who desire to know God the Father and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Our congregation is growing, so pray that the new people who come to check us out find what they’re looking for. We began hosting an Alcoholics Anonymous group in January, led by a member of our congregation, so pray for outreach opportunities. Pray for our “How to Study the Bible” class that also began in the New Year. We also ask for wisdom for direction in new areas of ministry and outreach.

As You Pray This Week

prayer-requests1Thank you for bringing Village Missions to the throne of grace. As you pray this week, please keep these things in mind.

Pray for Brian and Carole as they leave this week for the Phoenix area. Brian will be preaching March 14 at Venture Out RV Resort, where a group of 600+ meet for Sunday worship and March 21 he will have 10 minutes to present Village Missions at Palm West Community Church in Sun City West. They will be making several visits to donors as well.

Pray for applicants as the deadline for formal applications is March 15. Pray for wisdom for Mike Jones, Assistant Director and the District Representatives as they review the applications and conduct interviews.

Pray for Village Missionaries Jim and Brenda Harkabus, from Lakehead, CA as they mourn the passing of their daughter Faith, who was almost 26.

Pray for retired Village Missionaries Jim and Nancy Kane as Jim struggles with Alzheimer’s.

March 14: Tom & Jennifer Craig, Skykomish, WA

Craig-TSkykomish is an old railroad town an hour or so east of Monroe, WA. About 500 people live between here and Barring, a small town about 8 miles west of us down the pass. Most people who live here year-round work in the Seattle area. This community is very dark spiritually, with a lot of closed hearts toward the Gospel. We have a very small congregation of 15-20 people that love getting together to fellowship and learn from the Lord. Please pray that the love of the church would continue to abound abundantly toward one another and the community, and that those in the body would continue to be encouraged. Pray for those who have recently committed their lives to the Lord, that the Lord would faithfully grow them in Him. Above all, pray that the Lord would start a revival here in the Sky Valley and that as we share the Gospel on a consistent basis, many people would commit their lives to the Lord. Please also pray the passage of Isaiah 58 for us. Thank you!

March 7: Tom & Rebecca Gerbrandt, Gwynne, AB

Gerbrandt-Tom-BeckyThis small rural farming community, in the heart of a picturesque valley, sits halfway between 2 small cities about 15 minutes away. The men’s breakfasts are becoming a great outreach in the area; more men come each time. Pray that we may touch lives for Christ through this. We have some other outreach ministries in mind that need a lot of work to get up & running. Pray that God will lead us in each step of the process.
