December 5: Dean & Rochelle Denlinger, Kaslo, BC

Denlingers-Dean-RochelleThis small town of about 1000 people was originally a mining town, but now Kaslo’s main industries are logging and tourism. Sitting on a river delta on Kootenay Lake, surrounded by breathtaking mountains and glaciers, Kaslo has been called “The Little Switzerland of the Americas.”

But even in such a beautiful place where nature definitely gives glory to its Creator, there is still a huge need for people to acknowledge Him and accept Him as Lord and Savior. We are new to Kaslo, but we see a huge potential. Please pray that we would be faithful to our call here. Pray for the church that we would stay focused on the truth of God’s Word, rather than modern trends. And please pray for wisdom in starting up youth programs.

Thanks for remembering Kaslo before our Lord.

Keeping the Doors Open

prayer-requests4Village Missions is blessed with many friends throughout North America who do what they can to help keep church doors open. No one can do it all, but if everyone does their part and trusts the Lord for the results, great things can happen.

This week, the church in Blue Mound, KS is hosting a charity hunt and banquet to benefit Village Missions. Area farmers are allowing hunters to hunt on their land in exchange for a generous gift to the Mission. Wednesday evening I will be speaking at the banquet.

Blue Mound is a wonderful example of a church that is revived and growing. We first sent Associates Chuck & Marge Hansen to Blue Mound in June 2008. Village Missionaries Karl & Dale Rewa arrived in April 2009. People are being reached for Christ and the church is growing. A wedding held in September was the first wedding in the church several years

THANK YOU for doing what you can to help keep the doors open!
We are grateful that you are a part of our Mission family!

November 28: Sandy & Joan Strait, Dalkena, WA

StraitsDalkena is 10 miles NW of Newport, WA, and about 45 minutes north of Spokane. This is a beautiful area, dotted with lakes and streams, and with much wildlife. Most of the population lives along the main highways. Ranching, logging, and mill work occupy many, yet quite a few commute to the surrounding cities for work.

We’re in the process of building an addition to the church, which would include a new sanctuary, offices, restrooms, and various other rooms. The people have been praying for this “project” for years, and Lord willing, we will be able to occupy next summer. Pray for unity within the body, and that we will not lose our focus of reaching our world for Christ.

Thanking God for You!

prayer-requests3Dear Praying Friends:

We thank the Lord for the way He has moved friends like you to pray for and give to Village Missions. We are grateful that you are a part of our Mission family.

As we enter the holiday season, please pray that our Village Missionaries would have many opportunities to comfort those who are hurting and speak God’s truth into the lives of those who need to hear it.

Many of the churches served by Village Missions will be handing out food boxes during Thanksgiving. Please pray for opportunities to share Christ and minister to hurting people.

Brian presented Village Missions at the Barnabas Group Silicon Valley on November 18. You can read more about this group here. Please pray for ongoing results from this meeting.

Brian will be speaking at Evangelical Bible Church in Dallas, OR, on November 28 at the morning and evening services. Please pray that God will be glorified in the preaching and sharing about Village Missions.

Thank you for praying!

November 21: Gary & Kathlyn Horton, Weston, NS

Horton-Gary-KathyWe are in the Annapolis Valley surrounded by farms, orchards, and beautiful scenery. This Valley has been called the Valley of Dry Bones because, although there are many churches in the area, there are few that preach the gospel. Please pray that many souls will surrender and commit to Christ and that our Lord might be glorified through His ministry here.

As You Pray This Week

prayer-requests1Thank you for your faithful prayers on behalf of Village Missions! As you pray this week, please remember the following needs:

Pray for board members as they travel to Dallas, OR, for our semi-annual meeting. Pray for great wisdom as the Board meets November 10-11.

Please pray for travel mercies and wisdom for the Village Missions Employee Benefit Plan Board as it meets November 15-16. The Board oversees our self-funded heath insurance plan which, although currently doing quite well, faces challenges adjusting to health care legislation.

Pray for the District Representatives as they meet in Dallas November 16-18. They will be discussing several important areas, including recruiting and the spiritual development of our churches.

Please pray for Brian as he speaks to the Barnabas Group of Silicon Valley November 18.

November 14: Brian & Julianne Primer, Fernwood, ID

Primer-BFernwood is located in the lower panhandle at the base of the Bitterroot Mountains. East of here, there is nothing but rolling hills full of forest for hundreds of miles. Fernwood Community Bible Church is the only established church in a radius of about 20 miles, and has been a partner with Village Missions for 60 years.

The people in this area are very rural minded, the kind that rely on the land to support them and enjoy being way back away from the fast paced life of the city, which is good, since the closest traffic light is over an hour’s drive away.

The church body in Fernwood is growing and maturing, beyond our building’s capacity, giving need for a bigger space wherein the ministry within the church may continue to flourish. Please pray for the evangelization of neighbors and community members to be a driving factor in the lives of the believers here, so that the church will continue to grow as lives are transformed with a saving hope, and God be glorified in it all.

November 7: Paul & Robbi Stroud, Challis, ID

Stroud-Paul-RobbieChallis is the county seat for one of Idaho’s highest (elevation), largest (geographical), and smallest (population) counties. We’re also one of the most isolated communities in the lower 48 states, with the nearest traffic signal 60 miles to the north and the nearest McDonald’s almost 150 miles south! Our location makes for some of the best hunting and fishing in the state, but our isolation also contributes to some challenges in ministry!

Pray for an increasing sense of community and interdependence among our congregation, as well as greater participation in men’s and women’s Bible studies. Pray especially for our Bible study in a community 30 miles distant. We face tremendous opposition there from the adversary, not to mention the local deer population that keeps running into our vehicles!

As You Pray This Week

prayer-requests“Every thing that a man leans upon but God, will be a dart that will certainly pierce his heart through and through. He who leans only upon Christ, lives the highest, choicest, safest, and sweetest life.”
–Thomas Brooks

Brian and Carole Wechsler will be going to our field in Rancho Tehama, CA (about 40 miles south of Redding), to help them celebrate their 25th anniversary as a church and 25th anniversary of being served by Village Missions. The celebration takes place November 7.

Please pray for the U.S. Board meeting which will be held on November 10-11 in Dallas, OR. Please pray for journey mercies for our board members as well as great wisdom as they meet.

Brian spoke at Riverside Fellowship Church in New Port Richey, FL, on October 31. Pray that God will be glorified by the responses of the congregation.

Please pray that our Village Missionaries would learn to lean upon Christ for all their needs.

Thank you for praying!
