April 3: Ed & Ruth Peters, Garrington, AB

In this rural area in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the people pride themselves in having a front-row seat to some of the most beautiful pictures and the best playground man could possibly enjoy. There is no town called Garrington; the oil/gas wells, bridge, recreational subdivision, and the church are all that is identified with that name.

Our mission field is a 35-mile square box, just outside the 5 surrounding towns. Farming/ranching, oil/gas industry, and work in the surrounding towns sustain the area. Pray for effective means of reaching our community with the Gospel. Pray for wisdom for our leadership as we seek to lead & move this growing body in the ways of our Lord. Pray for our youth ministry; they’re not drawing a huge crowd, but lately about 70% have been from non-churched homes. Pray for the leaders to be able to take advantage of this open door.

As You Pray This Week

Please be in prayer for our candidate school which is going on this week. Four couples from the U.S. and one couple from Canada are attending. Please pray for both the staff and the candidates to discern God’s will concerning service with the Mission.

Please continue to pray that God will call more couples. We continue to receive requests from churches needing leadership and, in addition, have several churches without leadership.

On March 30 Village Missions has the privilege of presenting a seminar on “The Effective Small Church” at the American Missionary Fellowship staff conference held at Twin Rocks Conference Center on the Oregon coast. We praise the Lord for this opportunity and the collaboration it represents with another home mission organization. Topics will include evangelism and the small church, preaching and the small church, and characteristics of the small church. Please pray for the presenters: Tim and Bonnie Goold, Vern Wilkinson, and Glenn Daman. Brian will speak briefly at the evening session.

Thank you for praying!

As you pray this week

Please be in prayer for retired Village Missionary Steve Hanson and for the funeral service for his wife Pat which will be Sunday, March 27, at New Gloucester Bible Church. Please pray for journey mercies for Brian as he travels to Maine to take part in the funeral.

March 27: International Service Center, Dallas OR

Spring Candidate School is this week – praise the Lord for the couples participating. Pray for those who are leading the school and for the couples who are considering Village Missions. Pray for wisdom for the leadership of Village Missions, for the daily operations of the office, and for the health and safety of each of the office staff. The entire staff wishes to thank every Village Missionary, Board Member, and District Representative for your faithful service to Village Missions!

March 20: Charlie & Patty Scott, Valleyford, WA

This is a growing bedroom community 10 miles south of Spokane Valley in eastern Washington, dotted with beautiful pine-covered hills and wheat fields. We see deer almost daily near the parsonage, eating our bushes or jumping in front of our cars!

After many years of planning, we’ve almost completed our new chapel and handicapped-accessible restrooms; we’re also working on a larger kitchen and remodeling the old chapel into office and classroom space. Pray for the funds (and energy!) to be available and that the space is used to bring glory to Christ.

Pray for a fruitful Awana ministry, as it draws the most new people to the church. Pray for leaders and direction for our Sunday school, where the majority of members are senior citizens with many health needs and limitations. Depression is a common malady in the area; pray for wisdom and proper treatment for those suffering.

As You Pray This Week

Thank you for praying for Brian and Carole’s visit to Arizona. They had many speaking opportunities and met with many friends of Village Missions. Please pray for wisdom for the Grace Bible Church Missions Committee as they consider adding Village Missions as one of the agencies it regularly supports.

Please pray for wisdom for Brian as he prepares for several speaking engagements over the spring and early summer.

Please continue to pray as we process applications for our spring candidate school.

Also pray for accepted candidates to raise their support. Village Missionaries are required to raise a certain level of outside support before they can be placed on a field. We also have some candidates that need to sell their homes before they can begin serving with us. Please pray for the Lord to open doors!

Thank you for praying!

March 13: Peter & Katrina Tel, Akron, CO

About 100 miles east of Denver on the open plains, this is dry-land farming and ranching country. Our nearest neighbor is ¼ mile to the east; we’re five or more miles from any neighbor north, south, or west. We’ve been here over seven years now.

Pray for church unity as we look for ways to improve our facilities. The BUCanears children’s program is thriving, with an average attendance of 25 this past fall. Praise the Lord! God is moving in both the youth and parents – they’re asking how they can help. Pray for a continued focus on God’s work here.

As You Pray This Week

Please pray for our Village Missionary families, that the ties between husband and wife, parent and child will be strong.

Pray for our Village Missionary children, for their salvation and spiritual growth, for good godly friends, for their health and education.

Pray also that their family life will provide an excellent model the community they serve.

Please continue to pray as we process applications for our spring candidate school. Right now there appear to be seven candidates in the pipeline.

Also pray for accepted candidates to raise their support. Village Missionaries are required to raise a certain level of outside support before they can be placed on a field. We also have some candidates that need to sell their homes before they can begin serving with us. Please pray for the Lord to open doors!

March 6: Dana & Jacqueline Struve, Meadowbrook, AB

We’re in central Alberta, surrounded by farmland. Some here live by farming; most farm on the side and work in Ponoka, Lacombe, Red Deer, or in the oil industry.

Meadowbrook is the only church within a 22-km radius, so we are the only visible expression of God to our community. One indication of this: when an elderly unchurched man from the Meadowbrook area passed away, the family asked me to take the funeral service. We had the joy of sharing the gospel with 150 people from the community. Praise God that many of our congregation sense a need to be personally involved in sharing Jesus Christ with the lost.

Pray for increasing participation in evangelism for our church family. Pray that Jacqueline and I will be able to connect with more people in the community, especially as we live 30 km from the church. Pray we’ll be able minister in the public school, 7 km away.
