June 5: Ron & Joan Germain, Northfield, ON

Though less than 2 hours from Niagara Falls and 3 hours from Detroit/Windsor, we are very rural. Hatchel, the village 4 km away, has about 15 people. Harley, 5 km north, has a much larger population of maybe 80 people. Kelvin, south 5 km, may have 45 people.

Near a crossroads, we look out the church windows and see about 5 houses, rotation crops, and an apple orchard.

Pray that God continues to give us creative ways to connect with the people in this area. Pray that we see each one of these connections as our mission field. Pray for our children’s ministries to be used to their fullest potential to get the gospel message across and see growth in children’s lives. Pray for our summer VBS outreach, SS, boat building contest, and 5/10-km Turkey Run. Thank Him for what He has done and is doing in our community!

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Our annual donor dinner in Red Deer, Alberta, is taking place this week. Please pray for good attendance and high interest in partnering with Village Missions of Canada.

A highlight of the dinner will be an interview with newly accepted missionaries, Ryan and Jenneke Schnee, who are about to begin serving in Middle Lake, SK. Please pray for their move and a great start to their ministry.

Brian and Carole Wechsler will be traveling north to share in the dinner and also to visit Clive Christian Fellowship in Clive, Alberta. Village Missionaries, Gordon and Val Rowland, have served this church since August, 2001. Please pray for journey mercies and also for Brian as he preaches on Sunday.

We are earnestly asking God to send forth workers into the harvest fields of rural North America. Would you please pray with us? Perhaps God would bring to your mind someone who would make an excellent Village Missionary, or perhaps God is calling you to serve. Pray that God will call out a great army of men and their wives committed to “Preaching the Word and loving the people!”

Thank you for praying!

May 29: Tony & Kathy Pinkham, Kettle Falls, WA

The rolling hills of Northeast Washington are rich with wildlife, rivers, lakes, mountains, farmland, orchards, and vast amounts of outdoor activities all year.

Loggers, farmers, businessmen, teachers, medical workers, and laborers are some careers of people in our valley. Our sanctuary is a historic building in our town; it was moved from the site of the present Lake Roosevelt (Columbia River) before Grand Coulee Dam was built!

We’ve lived here for over 20 years and have grown to know and love the people and our community. We long to see people committed to the Lord and HIS beauty, and not just swayed by & content to be in the great outdoors each weekend.

We’re blessed to have Steven & Kristina Wakeman interning with us this year, and we’re excited to see all that the Lord has in store as He is served by & through this special couple!

Pray as many of our youth will be going to Christian colleges this fall. Pray for our Home Growth Groups, Sunday School, Christian Preschool, youth groups, and Upward Basketball ministry. We’re also praying for how to better use our buildings for growth. We want to honor Him in our daily lives by being faithful to the Lord, each other, and His people.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Brian Wechsler extends his thanks for praying for his family in the passing of his sister. He was able to make it to her funeral on May 16 by leaving the mini-conference in Nukko Lake, BC, a day early. Brian praises the Lord that his sister was a believer.

The District Representatives met in Dallas, OR, May 17-19. We had two days of training on Conflict Resolution conducted by Dr. Jim Clark, president of Calvary Bible College and Seminary. The following day we discussed recruiting and implementing the Child Abuse Prevention policy. We thank the Lord for the effective and critical ministry of the DRs. Please pray for them as they visit our churches and missionaries.

Please especially pray for new missionaries. Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the mission field of North America. Pray that every church served by Village Missions will send out someone to a Bible school and/or the ministry of Village Missions in the next four years.

Thank you for praying!

May 22: Sam & Mary Courts, Springview, NE

Springview is a tiny blip on the map in the Sandhills, a few miles south of the SD border. Cattle vastly outnumber people in this wide-open ranch country. Population has dropped considerably in the 12 years we’ve been here, but a couple of businesses (logging and a farm/cattle operation) recently came to our county and provide new sources of employment. Most people travel from outside of town, anywhere from 10-30 miles, to attend church, and everyone travels at least 150 miles to the nearest Wal-Mart!

With the cooperation of all five community churches, we remodeled a donated building into a community youth center. A missionary with Hard Hats for Christ helped us finish this project that’s been going for 3 years. We also finished a very successful year of Awana and youth meetings, and will soon be planning for the coming school year. Pray for enough workers and that God’s Word continues to be taught faithfully to the church and the youth.

Rodeo Bible Camps run for two weeks (late May/early June) and the local Bible camp runs through the summer. Pray for the gospel to take root in young people’s lives and bear much fruit. And, thanks to some very generous donations, we’ve finished a refurbishing project in our church building: repair work, new windows in the sanctuary, paint, and new carpet – after 30 years!

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Please pray for the many children on our fields involved in Awana, Good News Clubs and other after school Bible clubs. As they wrap up the school year, please pray that that they will remember the Word of God that has been planted in their hearts.

Pray also for Brian Wechsler as he travels to Oakland, CA to spend time with Barnabas Group, a group that helps business leaders use their time, gifts, and abilities to support Christian ministries.

Please pray for our District Representatives who are gathering in Dallas, OR for meetings. Pray that the Lord would give them wisdom and understanding as they shepherd the Village Missionaries that they serve.

Thank you for praying!

May 15: Chris & Tina Costrini, Venango, NE

This community of about 150 people is ½-mile from the Colorado border, surrounded by farmland. Wheat and corn are the major crops, plus sunflowers, cattle, and sheep.

A bar, cafe, and post office are all that remain of a once-thriving Main Street. Farming and a large grain elevator keep trucks and trains moving through town all year. Venango Community Church has served this community since 1888.

Although fairly small, we are active with men’s & women’s Bible studies and Awana. Pray as we try to reach our community with the gospel of Christ through these ministries and personal contact. Pray especially for the young people in our Awana program; many come from unchurched families. As our community ages, so does our church leadership; please ask God to raise up a new generation of leaders for the church.

Dear Praying Friends,

Please continue to pray for the five couples recently accepted into Village Missions at Candidate School. Pray that they will raise their support quickly and be placed on the field very soon.

Also pray that God will call more couples. We continue to receive requests from churches needing leadership and, in addition, have several churches without leadership

Thank you for praying!

May 8: Matt & Shari Froah, Yampa, CO

Yampa Bible Church is in the beautiful Yampa Valley of NW Colorado. Yampa has a variety of folks, from local ranchers to ‘transplants’ who love skiing, snowboarding, and other mountain activities. Our main employers are ranches, local schools, the underground coal mine, and jobs in Steamboat.

The church has been growing spiritually and numerically, for which we praise the Lord. We have wonderful ministries and pray they continue to nurture the people to grow in the Word of God. Pray for the salvation of lost souls in the Yampa Valley, for wisdom, guidance, and direction in ministering to all, and for the Lord to draw people into His church to hear the Good News!
