July 31: Mike & Michelle Keller, Wrenshall, MN

In northern MN, we’re about 20 miles SE of Duluth and close enough to Lake Superior to be affected by its great waters – natural air conditioning. Wrenshall lost its industry years ago, so now people go to local towns for work, mostly shift work in factories.

The center of the community is the school, so having our worship services there helps us to naturally connect with the community. Since SonLife rents the school for worship, we have a high need for physical labor, setting up and taking down. Pray for the strength of the church body to carry on and for more able-bodied volunteers each year.

For SonLife to grow in its outreach, it needs to grow leaders. Pray God will put it on the hearts of people needed as leaders, and that the church will be strengthened in its ministry of the Gospel through this.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Village Missionaries from eastern Canada are gathered at Capernwray Bible Centre in Quebec for a week of fellowship in the Lord. Please pray for spiritual refreshment and blessing as they spend time together in the Word.

In August, Tony & Cathy Bittner will be going to Skykomish, WA. Please pray for great beginnings and fruitful ministry for all these couples!

The following individuals are in the application process. Please join us in bringing them before the throne of God in prayer as they seek His will in the matter of their service with Village Missions.

July 24: Arnold & Eleanor Tracey, Whonnock, BC

This is a beautiful place, with lush rainforest-type vegetation, lakes, mountains, Fraser River, and the ocean, all within an hour’s drive.

Whonnock remains “rural” in that many people have horses, chickens, sheep, goats and llamas – just enough critters to get “farm tax breaks.” It’s essentially a bedroom community for two cities on either side. Maple Ridge is 15 minutes west towards Vancouver and 15 minutes east towards Mission. The Whonnock Lake Centre, Elementary School, and Little Red ‘N White Post Office/Feed Store are the hub of the community.

We’ve been at Wildwood Fellowship Church almost 13 years and so appreciate a congregation that enjoys worshipping and fellowshipping together and also knows how to embrace each other in the times of difficulty. Pray for our families…some struggling with the loss of a family member, a diagnosis of a degenerative disease with no cure, single-parenting issues, etc. Pray for our Children’s Ministry outreaches, especially VBS in August. Pray for our Family Camp to be a source of encouragement and time of growth. We’re a small church with a big heart. Please pray that God would bless our efforts to reach out and give to the needy in our community and people would be drawn to Him and come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour as a result.

July 17: Randy & Lisa Picklesimer, Mazama, WA

Here at Mazama Community Church we have a wonderful group of believers who desire to reach the community. We live at the base of the beautiful North Cascades Highway where tourism generates our economy. People come here to enjoy fishing, hiking, camping, cross country skiing, rock climbing, horseback riding, white water trips…the list seems endless with the imagination. With the diversity of beliefs here, we pray that our local residents will open their hearts to our God and that He would give them the faith to believe in Him as the only true God. We pray that our monthly summer activities will draw new people here and experience the love from our church family.

July 10: Tim & Bonnie Goold, Hillside, OR

Our community, nestled in the coastal range foothills, is halfway between Portland and the coast. We have a ministry with the almost 400 homes within a 4-mile radius.

Filbert orchards and blueberries are the primary crops; there are also walnuts, plums, cherries, strawberries, blackberries, and peaches. This is a beautiful place to live, among the evergreens and multitude of colorful blooms, yet many are hurting and spiritually needy.

We are thankful for the many opportunities God has given us to share Christ. Over the years our youth have grown, and we now have few youth programs. Pray for a spiritually meaningful VBS week in August, with as many of the children in the community as possible; perhaps we’ll glean more children to teach God’s Word throughout the year.

Col. 1:9-12 is our heart’s prayer: to be filled with His wisdom and understanding; to walk in a worthy manner; to please Him in all respects and bear fruit; strengthened for the attaining of steadfastness and patience; and joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
