September 30: Josh & Xio Gard, Beaver, OR

Beaver is located in a beautiful valley only 15 minutes from the Pacific Ocean. The area has many dairy farms, which are involved with the Tillamook Cheese Factory, and also many loggers. Other people work in nearby tourist centers and live in Beaver where the cost of living is lower. Tillamook County is also one of the poorest counties in Oregon. As a church we operate a community food pantry, have Awana, Respite Care, and many other ministries serving people of all ages. Please pray with us that the Lord will open doors for the gospel and draw people to Himself through our efforts. Please pray for the unity and witness of our congregation in all things.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Please pray for the churches served by Village Missions as they plan and begin their fall activities.  Also pray that the many children reached over the summer through VBS and camp ministries will begin to attend church and grow in the Lord. Pray also that their families will be reached for Christ.

I read many reports of missionaries working with couples who are experiencing marriage problems.  Please pray for great wisdom of our missionaries as they counsel and that couples would want to build their life on Christ and the Word of God. Pray that our churches would be a great source of strength for marriages and families.

Please pray for Village Missionaries Jimmy and Nevey Francisco as they approach the one year anniversary on September 30th of the accidental death of their son Jairus.  God has used them in many ways through this fiery trial but they certainly need our prayers during this difficult time.

Assistant Director Mike Jones asks for wisdom in the placement of two missionary couples, and for wisdom to make decisions concerning difficult problems.  Please pray that the Lord would clear the way for missionary candidates who are planning to attend our Candidate School October 14th – 20th. Please also pray for Mike and Judie as they look for a local church following their move to Omaha, Nebraska.

Thank you for praying!

Sept 23: Cliff & Casey Horr, San de Fuca, WA

San de Fuca Chapel sits alongside Hwy 20 halfway between Oak Harbor and Coupeville on Whidbey Island, WA. I like to say, “Everybody on the Island drives past us twice a day.” On Sundays some stop. The Chapel is a 100 year old building on a bluff above Penn Cove. The congregation is made up of a small group of committed believers and has been faithful in living out the Gospel in our community for many years. Casey and I have been blessed to serve here for nearly 18 years. We have seen many come and go through our years here, and have prayed that God would lead us to more young families we could minister to. Most of our Awana kids come from other churches. Several new couples have come recently and we are encouraged. Pray also for wisdom in use of the property and finances God has blessed us with in ministry and that we would be bold in the opportunities God is placing before us.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word. (Acts 6:4)

As you pray, please ask the Lord to help Village Missionaries protect their time of personal devotion to the Lord, and meditation in His Word.

Village Missions is blessed by couples, often retirees, who join us to take on interim assignments as Associate Missionaries. Several are presently going through an Associate Orientation. Please pray that these couples will have a positive impact on the churches that they serve on their short-term assignments.

Our next Candidate School is coming up in October. Six couples and a single man are attending to consider whether the Lord is calling them to a ministry with Village Missions. Please pray for the Lord’s direction for all.

Our District Representatives will be covering many miles in the next few weeks to visit their churches and missionaries. Please pray for mercy in travel and for wisdom as they shepherd the flock of God.

Some upcoming events to pray for:

Brian will be speaking at the Saturday breakfast during the October 5-6 STEER Missions Conference 2012. You can learn more about the important ministry of STEER, a way for farmers and ranchers to give to missions, by clicking on this link.

October 9-12 Brian and Village Missionaries Phil Rownd and Jeremy Sarver will be representing Village Missions at the annual Moody Bible Institute Missions Conference in Chicago. The theme of this year’s conference is “Incarnation”-a theme that fits quite well with the ministry of Village Missions.

Thank you for praying!

September 16: Clint & Cyndi Highley, Double Adobe, AZ

Valley Bible Church is in McNeal Valley in Cochise County. This area was once known for cowboys and outlaws. We’re between old Tombstone, Bisbee, and Douglas, 15 minutes from the Mexico border. There are still some ranches in the area, but not many. We have a lot of border patrol activity every day and night. The church is in a poor community and the people have trouble making it from day to day. There are unique missions here, though. There are missionaries who regularly go into Mexico to work with tribal people. Also, New Tribes Aviation is here, training and maintaining planes for works all over the world. Many New Tribes missionaries come to the church and retire to this area. Living costs are low, as well as property prices. Pray for outreach to children, as there are many within our reach.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Please appeal to the Lord for travel mercies on behalf of our Mission family as many miles are covered in His service.

One of our District Representative couples, Keith and Kris Hillard were recently involved in a serious accident. We thank the Lord that they weren’t seriously injured, although Kris did break her sternum. Please pray for her complete recovery.

Brian and Carole traveled to Ocean Park, WA, on the southern coast of Washington, to help the Ocean Park Community Church celebrate its 65th year Anniversary! This congregation is one year older than Village Missions. Village Missions started serving the church in 1977 and the current Village Missionaries, Marty and Cindy Cole, have served the congregation for twelve years. We thank the Lord for the faithful proclamation of the Gospel over these many years! Pray that the congregation will continue to be bold in its outreach to the community.
