March 3: Elliott & Victoria Harder, Nukko Lake, BC

Nukko Lake is located approximately 20 minutes northwest of Prince George, British Columbia. Nukko Lake has an elementary school, a general store, community hall, and the Lakes Community Church. There are numerous lakes in the area and many of the people in the area are involved in the logging and mining industries.
We have been at the Lakes Community Church for approximately 7 months. The church is very full on Sundays, so we would appreciate it if people would pray for wisdom on how the leadership can accommodate the church growth. We would ask that people would pray for our visitation ministry and that the Lord would lead us to the people He would like us to visit each week. Also, please pray for men to become passionate about discipling other men.

Prayers for this week

Dear Praying Friends,

  • Brian speaking at Mission Conferences in Arizona and Washington
  • Cannon Beach Mini Conference-February 26-28, 2013
  • 2013-2014 Village Mission Budget
Brian and Carole traveled to Arizona on Friday to represent Village Missions at the Grace Bible Church of Sun City Missions Conference.  Brian will present the ministry of Village Missions this morning at 10:00 am. The theme of this year’s conference is “Soldiers of the Cross-Press On.”  You can find a schedule of events by clicking on this link.

Brian will then be the Keynote Speaker at the Missions Conference of the Edgewood Bible Church in Edgewood, WA, beginning March 1 at 5:00 pm.  The conference itself begins on February 27 at 7:00 pm.  You can find a schedule by clicking on this link.

This week, February 26-28, Mike and Judie Jones, as well as new Director of Stewardship Tim Griffiths, will attend a mini-conference at Cannon Beach, OR, with several missionaries from Washington and Oregon. Pray that it will be an encouraging time away for our missionaries.

Please pray for wisdom as we begin to put together a budget for Village Missions for the United States and Canada.  Our fiscal year begins in July.  We are excited about the new missionaries entering service with Village Missions and the new fields asking for our help.  Each new field, however, will probably require about $19,200 in salary support over a year as well as a significant amount to cover health insurance for the missionary family.  We have seen God provide in the past and are trusting Him to provide in the future!

Thank you for praying!

Feb. 24: Joe & Karla Beard, McCleary, WA

McCleary is located about 20 minutes west of Olympia, Washington on the way to ocean beaches.  Because of our location many people commute to Olympia for work.  Many of our population is involved in either state or federal government work.  McCleary is also home to Simpson Door Factory where many of our older people made their living.  We were a growing bedroom community of Olympia until the economic crisis which slowed our growth, but we are beginning to grow a little more again.
Please pray for those who attend McCleary Community Church to continue to grow in their faith in Christ. Pray that they would have a passion and desire to reach the people of McCleary and our surrounding area.  Pray for some new families to come into the church and become a part of our local body.  Pray that McCleary Community Church would be light and salt in our community and would be known as a place that stands unwaveringly on the Word of God and believes that prayer is the only means of seeking God for wisdom, healing, guidance, and strength to show God’s grace and love in our uncertain days.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Please pray for Brian and Carole as they travel to Arizona Friday to represent Village Missions at the Grace Bible Church of Sun City Missions Conference.  Brian will be presenting the ministry of Village Missions at 10:00 am Tuesday February 26.

Brian has posted some pictures of recent trips.  One photo album is called “Return to Jennings MI“.  This album chronicles their recent visit to the field in Jennings where God is doing some amazing things.  Equally amazing is what God is doing through the Bible schools developed by our Village Missionaries.  One such school is Servants Bible School and the album is called “Training Church Leaders and Future Village Missionaries“.  In case you missed it, another album is “The Light’s On in the Parsonage” about our new field in Falmouth, MI.  Trust that you will enjoy seeing God at work!

Please pray for our District Representative meeting February 19-21 in Dallas, OR. Six reps from the USA and three from Canada will attend. On our agenda will be the continued development and promotion of our new initiative for training future missionaries through local church-based schools, as well seeking ways to advance the mission through exposure to new churches needing leadership. Pray that we will know God’s will in how to move forward and advance the kingdom.

The following week, February 26-28, Mike and Judie Jones, as well as new Director of Stewardship Tim Griffiths, will attend a mini-conference at Cannon Beach, OR, with several missionaries from Washington and Oregon. Pray that it will be an encouraging time away for our missionaries.

Pray for Roy and Lennie Adrian as they travel to the International Headquarters to meet with Mission leadership and other DRs from across the country. We have some important decisions that need to be made for our Mission. So we ask you to pray for wisdom and insight into the will of God that we might know the direction we need to take. Also pray for Roy as he prepares to do some recruitment work.

Thank you for praying!

February 17: Jeremy & Mindi Sarver, Volga, IA

We are located in the hills of Iowa, close to the Mississippi River. This area consists of dairy and crop farming.  The population of our community is just over 200; however, there are 3 other churches.  I have the wonderful opportunity of being the only pastor who lives in town. Many from the community and other churches turn to us in times of need.

Please pray for our Good News Club as it reaches out to K-5 and their families, and for our evening youth Bible study, grades 6-12. A few years ago the church was given the old school gym which we use regularly.  Pray that God would use the gym as a tool for the Kingdom and to reach those who may not be willing to enter church doors.  Pray for our men to continue to grow spiritually and lead.  Please pray for spiritual growth in our family, and for our twin 4-year-olds to know Jesus. We are waiting for a referral to adopt from Ethiopia and would appreciate your prayers concerning this matter.

The Only Pastor in Town
Village Missions: The Only Pastor in Town

Jeremy and Mindy Sarver serve in Volga, Iowa, population 200.  There are four churches, but only one pastor.  Jeremy and Mindy are in the community full-time preaching the Word and loving the people.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Brian and Carole had the privilege of visiting with Village Missionaries Dan and Cheryl Wuthrich at their field in Mayer, AZ just before we left Arizona.  The Wuthrichs are off to a great start and the church has already started contributing $500 a month toward their salary (Village Missions provides the remainder of $1200 to reach the base salary of $1700).  Please pray for the community of Mayer, as there are deep spiritual and other needs.  Pray that the Mayer Community Church would have even greater outreach into the community and would welcome newcomers.  One year ago, Brian visited the field at Mayer, before the Wuthrichs had arrived.  If you would like to see pictures he took, please click on this link.

Please pray for Brian and Carole as they travel to our field on Sauvie Island, the Sauvie Island Community Church, next Sunday, February 17.  Brian will be preaching at the 10:00 am service.

Our Sauvie Island field and our field in Yale, WA, are co-sponsoring a Bible school to train leaders and develop future Village Missionaries.  You can learn more about the school by clicking on this link.

Please pray for our District Representatives as they finish interviews with prospective Village Missionaries in preparation for the spring Candidate school.  Candidates are planning for their week-long school to take place in mid-March at our headquarters in Dallas Oregon.  Please pray for couples needing to get time off and child care for that week.

Pray for our District Representatives as they gather in Dallas next week for a time of meeting and fellowship.  Pray for safety for them as they travel in winter weather.  Pray for Lisa West during this busy time as she handles all the details for travel and lodging.

Pray for Roy and Lennie Adrian, our Canadian Administrator, as they are currently catching up on all the office work, and connecting with various missionary families. Next week they also travel to Dallas, Oregon, for the District Representative meetings. Pray that we as Mission leadership would be able to develop our own ministries of support and encouragement for the Village Missionaries across our land.

Thank you for praying!

Feb 10: Larry and Randy Haylett, Juliaetta, ID

Juliaetta is located 21 miles NW of Lewiston, ID. The first Postmaster named it after his daughters, Julia and Etta. In the last 8 years three churches in the area have closed their doors.  There is one other church in Juliaetta, and down the road three miles there are two churches in Kendrick. Of those three churches, two are close to having to close their doors due to lack of attendance. From census to census the median age rises; we are becoming more and more a retirement-age community. These people have lived all their lives with little interest in God and see no reason to change. For the young families that are in the area, their interest lies in school activities and sports. Pray we will be able to help those in their earlier years and later years of life see their need of Christ.

Pray for Village Missionaries Sam and Mary Courts as they take some time away from their ministry in Springview, NE. Mike Jones will be preaching at Springview this Sunday.  Please pray for his time with the church.
