March 31:Clarence & Marinda Blessard, Renovo, PA

Renovo is nestled in an area known as “The land of the endless mountains.” We’re in north central PA, about 55 miles from Williamsport (known for the Little League World Series) and State College (home of Penn State University). In its early days, Renovo was a main stop on the Pennsylvania Railroad’s line between Harrisburg and Buffalo. Since the closing of the rail shops in the early 60′s the population has seen a steady decline from the one time 20,000 level to its present day population of 1200. Many of the problems of larger cities are present in the Renovo area. Due to the smaller size, these problems seem even larger to those who live here. Please pray that the group of believers who worship at Christian Community Church would be a bright and shining light in the midst of the darkness of our community. Please pray for our youth leaders as they try to make a dent in the culture of the area through the power of the Holy Spirit. Pray for our family, that we would be the examples Christ has called us to be.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends, please pray for the following:

  • Candidate School Update
  • Missionaries for Canada
  • Starbuck, WA, Update
  • Travel for Mike and Judie Jones
  • Candidate School
  • Canadian Spring Board Meeting–April 5
  • Village Missions Canada Board Meeting–April 13

Thank you for praying for our candidate school.  Five of the six couples felt that God was calling them to serve with Village Missions.  Please pray for these couples as they begin to raise their personal support (Village Missionaries have personal support that they receive in addition to the base salary Village Missions and the churches we serve provide). Also pray for them as they anticipate their first field of service and we pray about their assignment.

Please pray that God would call more couples, and especially couples to serve in Canada.

Thank you for praying for the Starbuck Community Church celebration of becoming self-supporting, as well as the dedication of their new addition.  The church was full and it was a beautiful day.  Many shared testimonies of how they were led to the Lord by a Village Missionary. I hope to have pictures available of both candidate school and Starbuck soon.

Pray for Mike and Judie Jones as they fly home to Omaha, NE, after conducting the Candidate School in Dallas, OR.

On April 5 Roy and Lennie Adrian will be holding the Spring Board Meeting in Huntsville, ON.  Following the board meeting will be a fundraising dinner with the donors who live in that area. Pray for safety in travel, and ask the Lord’s blessing on the meetings.

Roy Adrian is in the process of preparing for the Village Missions Canada Board meeting, to be held in Muskoka, Ontario, on April 5/13. Pray for wisdom and insight as he prepares reports and attempts to address issues that must be dealt with.

Thank you for praying!

March 24: Paul & Lynn Wager, Fairview, OR

Fairview is a beautiful little valley marked by a four-corner stop. This community is seeing some change as families move away and new families move in. The church has been in the community for around 100 years, and has been served by Village Missionaries for over 60 years. Logging, small farms, and a variety of self-employed individuals join with a good number of retired folks that call Fairview home. A small yet faithful congregation enjoys worshiping here and are always looking for ways to carry out the church’s motto: “shining God’s light in our valley.” Pray for Bible studies that continue to bear fruit. Pray for community outreach to families and youth.

As You Pray This Week

“More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.”   Alfred Lord Tennyson

Dear Praying Friends,  please pray for the following:

  • Candidate School & Candidates
  • Starbuck, WA, celebration
  • Million Volt Man Outreach
  • Canadian Spring Board Meeting

Pray for safety in travel for the couples who will be attending our candidate school, March 18-22.  Pray for their wisdom and ours as we present the ministry of Village Missions and seek God’s will concerning their calling to ministry with Village Missions. Please pray for our staff: Mike and Judie Jones, Jon and Deb Hansen, Andy and Stacy Taylor, and Brian and Carole Wechsler.

Please also pray for the following candidates that will be attending candidate school: Rob and Brenda – MN, Greg and Debie – ID, Sam and Rachel – WA, Kevin and Darleen – CA, Brian and Cathy – OR, Jim and Michele – WA, and Ken and Chris – NY.

Please be in prayer for Brian as he travels to Starbuck, WA, this weekend (March 23-24) to help the congregation celebrate becoming self-supporting.  Starbuck (no relation to the coffee – the town had the name first) is a small community, so this achievement is especially praiseworthy.  They have also recently completed an addition to the church. Brian will do his best to take pictures!

Thank you for praying for Brian and Carole’s trip to Arizona.  They had safety in travel and good meetings.  The church at Venture Out gave a generous offering for Village Missions.  Brian and Carole were also able to meet with Robert and Stephanie Melotti, who minister in Tonto Basin, AZ.  Stephanie is doing quite well in recovering from cancer.  Pray for the Tonto Basin Bible Church as they have an outreach planned March 22-24 by the “Million Volt Man” — Dean Ortner is Stephanie’s dad.  You can see an amateur video of him by clicking on this link.

On April 5, Roy and Lennie Adrian will be holding their Spring Board Meeting in Huntsville, ON. Following the board meeting, they will be having a fundraising dinner with the donors who live in that area. Pray for safety in travel, and ask the Lord’s blessing on their meetings.

Thank you for praying!

March 17: Michael & Suzanne Imus, Sandy Valley, NV

South of Sin City (Las Vegas, NV), our church is in the desert – surrounded by a ring of mountains around the huge valley that borders California. About 2400 people are here; in one year we’ve met probably 400 kids and adults through community activities and our own church activities. We really do want to bring the UNITY to this COMMUNITY! The leaders of the different community non-profits want to see that too! We want to see the Lord in people’s hearts so as to have unity with Him! Suzanne and I continue reaching out and building relationships, so please pray our little church can be equipped to be servants for the Lord and help others in our community. A heart to serve with eternal benefits is what we are seeking.

Prayer Requests for this Week

“May God ever bless, keep, guide, and continue to prosper you in your uplifting work for humanity, be it great or small, is my daily prayer. And may those whom he has redeemed learn to walk with Him not only daily or hourly, but momently through the things he has created.”   George Washington Carver

Dear Praying Friends, please pray for the following:

  • Brian & Carole in Arizona
  • Candidate School & Candidates
  • Mike Jones and meeting with Corban University
  • Recruitment in Canada
  • Tim Griffiths at Mission Connection Conference

Wednesday March 13 Brian and Carole will be attending the funeral at Grand Community Baptist Church in Surprise, AZ (Sun City Grand), of a good friend and donor to Village Missions, Max Woolery, who went home to be with the Lord last week.  Please pray for comfort for his wife Sharon and the family, and for a clear presentation of the Gospel at the memorial service.

Pray for safety in travel for the couples who will be attending our Candidate School, starting March 18-22.

Pray for Mike Jones as he meets with Corban University in Salem, OR, to talk about online courses that our missionaries may be able to take advantage of.

Please pray for Roy and Lennie Adrian as they continue to encourage people to consider serving with Village Missions. We have at least 10 churches waiting for leadership in Canada – pray that God would raise up leaders for these churches. We know that God hears and answers prayer, and He is not limited in any way. Thank you for praying for us.

Tim Griffiths will be traveling on Wednesday to Seattle, WA, to join Village Missionaries, Randy and Lisa Picklesimer, at the Northwest Ministry Conference. Please pray for safety in our travel to the conference and that our time at the conference will be beneficial.

Thank you for praying!

March 10: John & Kathy Mulvihill, Meadview, AZ

Meadview is located in northwestern Arizona and, geographically, is considered high desert. It is 10 miles from Lake Mead and a few miles from one of the largest forests of Joshua Trees in the country. It’s basically a retirement community with a median age of 63, so our congregation is mainly made up of retired people; however, most of them are still very involved in many different activities in the area.

We have been here just about a year now. A lot of that time has been spent getting to know not only our own people in the church, but also people in the wider community of Meadview. As we have become involved in the community, we are finding more and more opportunities to reach out and make a difference for Jesus Christ. Many people in the community are unchurched. Please pray that God would continue to open doors for us to reach them with the gospel, and also that God would grant us wisdom and guidance in that process.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Please pray for:

  • Brian speaking at Venture Out
  • Roy Adrian travels
  • Tim Griffiths in outreach and travel
  • Candidate School March 18-22
  • 2013-2014 Budget

Thank you for praying for our recent visits to Grace Bible Church in Sun City and Edgewood Bible Church in Edgewood, WA.  We have sensed the Lord using us and giving us opportunities to share.  We also sense a growing realization that our country is a mission field and that the rural areas have deep spiritual needs as well as the opportunity spiritually to affect both the U.S. and Canada.  Please pray for a great revival to occur in our two countries!

Brian and Carole will be traveling to Arizona on March 9 and Brian will be speaking at the Venture Out Worship service at 9:00 am on Sunday, March 10.  Venture Out is located at 5001 E. Main Street, Mesa, AZ.  Please pray for good contacts to be made for both Village Missions U.S. and Canada.

Pray for Roy Adrian as he travels this week. He has been under the weather for the past week, and is hoping to be fully recovered before he leaves on his trip, March 6. Roy will be traveling to Peace River Bible Institute (PRBI) in Sexsmith, Alberta to visit with students and participate in their prayer chapel. He will attend the PRBI board meeting on Saturday, and then he is off to Bezanson, Alberta to share with a supporting church on Sunday morning.

Tim Griffiths will be traveling to Seattle, WA, to join Village Missionaries Randy and Lisa Picklesimer at the Northwest Ministry Conference.   Please pray for safety in our travel to the conference and that our time at the conference will be beneficial.

March 18-22 seven couples will be traveling to Dallas, Oregon for Candidate School.   Please pray for discernment and openness during this week.

Please pray for wisdom as we begin to put together a budget for Village Missions for the United States and Canada.  Our fiscal year begins in July.  We are excited about the new missionaries entering service with Village Missions and the new fields asking for our help.  Each new field, however, will probably require about $19,200 in salary support over a year as well as a significant amount to cover health insurance for the missionary family.  We have seen God provide in the past and are trusting Him to provide in the future!

Thank you for praying!
