May 5: Pat McAloon, Nashwaak Bridge, NB

Nashwaak Bridge is a very small community with one main road running through it to the Miramichi. Our church is the only one in this area. The forestry industry used to be a major source of work in this area, but that has all changed now.

Most people commute to Fredericton to work; many have moved to Fredericton or out to western Canada to find work. There is an aging population here. There is no grocery store, gas bar, or post office now. There are few young families, but we reach a number of children through our Kids’ Club.

Pray for some of the young families that we are seeking to reach. Pray for grace, wisdom, and strength for me as I labor in this community. Pray for many that have lost loved ones in our church and in this area.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Mike and Judie Jones have just returned from a visit to our church on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. Please pray for our missionaries Jimmy and Nevey Francisco who serve at Defiance, NM. Pray for the church as they seek to reach their community and for a possible home for Francisco’s nearer the church.

Mike and Judie Jones also met with two donors in the Albuquerque area. Pray that our time together was an encouragement to them in their support of the mission.

Pray for Mike Jones’ time next week with the head of the Pastoral Department at Grace University as they discuss ways to improve our recruiting on campus.

Lennie and Roy Adrian will travel to Progress BC, to attend the Northern Village Missions Church Conference. This is an annual event, and they look forward to fellowship with people whom they have known for the past twenty years or more. Pray for travel safety and for good times of fellowship and growth. The speaker for the conference comes from Creation Ministries International.
Brian and Carole Wechsler and Tim and Gwen Griffiths will be attending the Edge World Outreach in Independence, OR, on Friday night to promote Village Missions.
Please pray for the upcoming board meeting on May 16 and 17 in Dallas, OR.  Pray for safety in travel for our board members and wisdom as we look ahead to the coming year.

April 28: Danny & Amber Mason, Pacific City, OR

On the beautiful Oregon Coast, we’re two hours out of Portland and 40 minutes south of Tillamook. One ‘different’ aspect of Pacific City: it’s almost like we live in two different towns, depending on the month. During the summer this little town is hopping with many vacationers, while winter’s pace is much slower with a lot fewer people.

Many different vocations are represented in Pacific City: dairy farmers, fishermen, retired folks, school teachers, and many others. Pacific Coast Bible Church is one of the best fellowships we have ever been a part of. The people are so warm and loving towards us and weekly visitors. The Spirit of Christ is in these folks. They have a very strong appetite for the Word of God, as well as for the care and nurture of each other’s spiritual health.

Amber and I feel tremendously blessed to have the opportunity to serve alongside this church family for the glory of our King. Please pray for the Mason family. We are a family devoted to the Lord and to His service, but there are always many distractions that try to draw us from the goal of why we are here on the coast.

Pray that we remain focused, with hearts always ready and available for whatever the Lord is calling us to do. Pray for Pacific Coast Bible Church. Please petition the Lord to continually grant this body of believers fresh passion for God’s Word and for sharing Christ with the world around them.

  • Praise for God’s Faithful Provision.

Please pray for Tim Griffiths as he travels back to Dallas, Oregon.

Roy and Lennie Adrian are praising God for the faithful churches and people who stand behind them and support them in this ministry. Praise God for recent donations which were far above what we expected. Sorry I can’t be more specific, but we do praise God for providing for our Mission.

Pray for our national board of directors as they prepare for meetings May 16-17.

Thank you for praying!

April 21: Russ & Linda Richardson, Sauvie Island, OR

Sauvie Island is really an island, surrounded by the Columbia & Willamette Rivers, just 11 miles from downtown Portland. The island is predominantly farmland and wildlife refuge. It is a popular place (over half a million visitors each year) for u-pick farms, hunting geese & ducks, bird-watching, biking, hiking, beaches, and kayaking. There were 1,078 year-round residents at the 2000 census.

We have two outreach ministries to children: Olympian Club and Friday Skills Workshop. With the charter school right next door, and over 200 students through grade 8, there is a great opportunity for sure. Pray for the Lord to open doors for ministry to these children and their families. Most do not live on the island. We also have 9 people from our church attending Servants Bible School (a joint project with VMers, Rob & Linda Dore). Please pray for our students as they learn God’s Word, that they may prove to be doers of God’s Word. Pray, too, for Pastor Rob & Pastor Russ as they share the teaching/training responsibilities. Please pray for our son Nathan as he works to finish getting his GED this year.

April 14: Mac & Julie McCallum, Helix, OR

Helix is a small town 20 miles north of Pendleton, in wheat country. We have a K-12 school of about 150 students combined. I (Mac) serve on the fire dept, and I’m the community watch commander. Pray for my relationships with the other firefighters and the responsibilities of keeping this community safe. Pray that the unity among our church members and board will remain strong as we minister in a community that’s resistant to the gospel. We have a couple of new families in our church, and 5 men interested in doing a Bible study. Please pray for us as we seek to disciple others and build unity in the community.

Prayers for week of April 14

Dear Praying Friends,

On April 14-18, Brian and Carole, Mike and Judie Jones, and Tim Griffiths attended the ANAM (Association of North American Missions) conference in the Kansas City area. Mike was doing two workshops on leadership during the Elisha Initiative phase of those meetings.  Please pray for the two leadership presentations during the conference.

Mike Jones will be leading a portion of the 24-hour prayer time at his new home church Saturday morning, April 20.  Pray for God’s leading and wisdom on his part.

Pray for Mike and Judie as they continue to ‘get connected’ in their new community and church.

Tim Griffiths and retired Village Missionaries Mike and Faye Finley will be representing Village Missions at The Table Conference: Presenting God to Those Who See Christianity Differently on April 19th and 20th, in Dallas, TX. Please pray for Tim’s other meetings in the area throughout the weekend.

Brian, Jim Cross and Roy Adrian have just returned from the Village Missions Canadian Board meeting and fundraising banquet near Huntsville, ON. Praise God for His provision-approximately $6500 was raised at the banquet.  We welcomed new board member Bob Hillhouse, who attends our field in Nukko Lake, BC-the Lakes Community Church.  Don Fairholm, who was not able to attend the meeting, was also voted in as a new board member.  Don has previously served on the board.  The board voted to begin the process of producing a Canadian video, which will help our efforts in recruiting and fund raising.  Our fall board meeting will be held in Edmonton.

Brian recently posted pictures of his visit to our field in Prescott, WA while he was on the way to help Starbuck, WA become self-supporting. If you would like to learn more about Prescott, our missionaries Mike and Kim Krutsch, and the beautiful wheat farming area click on this link.

Please pray for the candidates accepted at the Spring school as they raise personal support.

Thank you for praying!

April 7: Gary & Kathlyn Horton, Weston, NS

Located in the beautiful Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, we are surrounded by farmland. We’re only 10 miles from the Bay of Fundy with its 30-foot tides. This area is full of churches and religion, but starving for the gospel. Nova Scotia has the highest rate of cancer in Canada, and it seems our church is no exception. Last year we lost a young mother of three children, and in February we found one of the men in our church is terminal with only a few months to live. Another lady had both breasts removed a few months ago. Pray for health in our church, and souls for the Lord. Thank you!!

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends, please pray about these:

  • Starbuck Celebration Pictures
  • Canadian Spring Board Meeting–April 5, 2013
  • Candidates raising support

Thank you again for praying for Brian’s trip to Starbuck, WA, to help the congregation become self-supporting. Village Missions has served Starbuck since 1954.  Many have come to Christ and many have entered full-time ministry.  If you would like to see pictures of the celebration, please click on this link.

Pray for Brian, Jim Cross, Roy & Lennie Adrian, board members, and Jonathan & Doralyn Elgby as they travel to Huntsville, ON, this Friday, April 5, for the Village Missions Canada board meeting.  That evening we will be having a fundraising dinner in which new Village Missionaries, Jonathan and Doralyn Elgby, who serve in Ear Falls, ON, will be sharing.  Please pray for wisdom during the board meeting and that God will provide through the dinner.  Please continue to remember to pray for new missionaries for Canada as well as the funds to send them.
