June 30: Dana & Jackie Struve, Meadowbrook, AB

Our church is surrounded by farmland. There is no community center, post office, or town nearby. We do, however, have a public school 7 km away, and our church has held a Daily Vacation Bible School there each July for many years. Although we are a very rural community, only about a quarter of our people work in farming. We are the only church within a 30-km radius, the only local source for people to hear the gospel. Pray that people will connect with our church.
Our community is changing demographically, with about 200 new homes on or near Gull Lake, near the church, and about 300 new residential building lots available; some will become year-round homes, some summer homes for people from Calgary and Edmonton.  Pray that we can make connections with those who are new to the community. God has blessed us in the last couple of years with new believers, but several of these people face significant challenges in their lives. We need prayer that God will keep them on track and growing.
We as a church are currently using the Ravi Zacharias DVD series entitled Foundations For Apologetics in a  midweek study. Pray that our 20 adults taking the course will become better equipped to share the Good News of the Gospel with people in their world. We are blessed with a significant ministry in our church to teenagers. Many are non-churched youth. Pray for the leaders in this ministry, and that God will dramatically change the lives of the teens.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

This week three staff conferences will be taking place.  In recent years Village Missions has been unable to fund staff conferences, so the District Representatives have arranged smaller, less formal conferences.  In some cases, such as Lava Hot Springs, Idaho this week and Graeagle, CA two weeks ago, the local church hosts the conference. We praise the Lord for this ministry.  One conference is being held at the Pend Oreille Bible Camp near our fields in Dalkena and Cusick, WA.  In Canada, the western Canadian conference takes place at Green Bay Bible Camp near Kelowna, BC.  Please pray for safety in travel and renewal in ministry.  Brian and Carole will be attending the Pend Oreille conference and the Green Bay Conference.

We had a meeting in the Dallas office with our health insurance consultants.  We weren’t able to learn very much, as we will not receive a new bid from Regence Blue Cross until around September and the impacts of various ObamaCare changes such as the imposition of a reinsurance fee and research fee are unknown at this time.  Please pray for the health of our Village Missionaries and for wisdom as our Benefit Board seeks to provide coverage for our missionaries.  Generally, it appears that our group performance under the plan is satisfactory but we have overlap from our self-funded plan that affects the numbers.

We praise the Lord for the arrival of new missionaries Steve and Grace Washburn at their assigned field in Bruce Crossing, MI.  Bruce Crossing is near the Wisconsin border in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  Village Missionaries Skip and Venita Pullen have served Bruce Crossing as a second field.  Growth in the church has allowed us to assign the Washburns to that field as a stand-alone field.  Please pray for a great start to their ministry.

Judie and Mike Jones and Tim and Gwen Griffiths will be traveling to Lava Hot Springs, ID for a mini conference. Mike is the main speaker for the week so he covets your prayers for God’s will in the messages.

Pray for our District Representatives as they plan and put together these mini conferences across the country throughout the summer.

Village Missions is starting to be notified by our missionaries of upcoming retirements. This puts added strain on an already tight missionary pool.

Pray for a good Candidate School attendance for the fall. So far we do not have many applications and the deadline is August 1.

Pray for the transition of our new District Representative, Greg Petrie, as he moves from a church to an administrative role.  He will be serving Washington, Idaho and Alaska.

Pray for Lennie and Roy Adrian as they put the final touches on conference preparations. Pray for safety for all as they travel across the country to attend conference. In the past some have experienced problems with their vehicles, or have had minor accidents  please pray for safe travels. Please pray that the staff conference, June 27-30, would be a time of refreshing and encouragement for the missionaries who attend. Pray for the keynote speaker, Lyndon Wall, of Refresh Ministries.

June 23: Jeff & Nydia Black, Halsey, OR

Halsey is in the Mid-Willamette Valley, in the beautiful farm pastures of Linn County, “The Grass Seed Capital of the World.” Our town is a little over ½-square mile with a population of 917. Nearby is the large Georgia-Pacific Pulp Mill, and the Union Pacific train rolls through town almost hourly. Our church is next door to the Central Linn Elementary School (K-6, 332 students) and just over a mile from Central Linn High School (7-12, 294 students). Because of our central location between the major cities of Eugene, Corvallis, Salem, and Portland, we are also a bedroom community for many commuters.
Grace Bible Community Church has been steadily growing in size as we add more services and outreach activities. At the start of last year, we had a faithful core of about 18 regular attenders. Attendance is now reaching into the 40s and we’re looking for greater opportunities to reach young families with children. Please pray for our leadership that we might have the wisdom and grace to effectively reach this large segment of our town population. We would also ask prayer for more workers to help in all aspects of our growth planning as we seek to “be fruitful and multiply” according to God’s grace.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Please continue to be in prayer for the Williams family as they mourn the loss and celebrate the homegoing of Alton Williams. Altonand Jackie started serving with Village Missions in October of 1959 atHauser,OR.  From there they went to Burley, WA from June 1963 to June 1970.  They served next inApplegate,ORfrom July 1970 to August 1977.  In September of 1977, they started serving as District Representatives in our Southwest District until June of 1991. Altonserved on the Board of Village Missions from 1992-2007.

Thank you for praying for the Graeagle Conference.  Missionaries had a blessed time of fellowship and good instruction in the Word from Village Missionary Joe Murrell.  We are extremely grateful to the GraeagleCommunityChurchwho hosted the conference and District Representatives Walt and Rosanna Jacoby, who worked so hard to minister to the missionaries.  You can see pictures of the conference by clicking on this link. More pictures will be posted in the next few days.

Please be in prayer for Brian and Carole as they travel to two staff conferences next week.  They leave Monday for a mini-conference at the Pend Oreille Bible Camp (eastern WA and northernIdaho) and then from there Thursday for the Green Bay Bible Camp nearKelowna,BC.  Pray for safe travels for the Village Missionaries and their families and a time of encouragement and refreshment.

Please pray for Tim and Gwen Griffiths as they travel fromScottsbluff,NE, to Lava Hot Springs, ID, to attend the mini-conference. Pray for safe travels for the Village Missionaries and their families and a time of encouragement and refreshment.

Please pray for wisdom for the Village Missions Employee Benefit Board (U.S.) as they begin planning for health coverage for missionaries for 2014.  A meeting was held with our consultants on June 17 and then we will be receiving a premium bid from Blue Cross late summer or early fall.  Obviously, many organizations are currently dealing with challenges in providing health care to their employees.  Many additional fees are mandated starting in 2014 by Obamacare.  Currently, our churches pay $1216 per month per couple/family-churches that cannot afford this amount are helped out by Village Missions.  It puts significant financial pressure on both our churches and Village Missions.

Pray for the transition of our new District Representative, Greg Petrie, as he moves from a church to an administrative role.  He will be servingWashington,IdahoandAlaska.

Pray Lennie and Roy Adrian as they put the final touches on conference preparations. Pray for safety for all as they travel across the country to attend conference. In the past some have experienced problems with their vehicles, or have had minor accidents. Pray for God’s hand on each family. Conference is June 27-30.

June 16: Ken & Terry Kersey, Trail, OR

Trail, on the Rogue River, sits north of Medford off Highway 62, going toward Crater Lake. It has a Post Office and a convenience store, with a population of 1400-1500 people spread out over several square miles. It’s also a couple of miles from the town of Shady Cove. Trail Community Church has been associated with Village Missions for 40 years. Our prayer requests: (1) Pray for those who are suffering from physical ailments and diseases. (2) Pray that our body of believers will continue to be rooted and grounded and grow in their faith in Christ. (3) Pray that each of us will be witnesses for Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit. (4) Pray that more five-week outreach Bible studies will be established.

June 9: Dan & Connie Michaud, New Gloucester, ME

New Gloucester is 20 miles north of Portland and 10 miles west of L.L. Bean’s flagship store in Freeport. Even with a population of over 5,000, the town has retained its rural charm while serving as a bedroom community to the more urban areas surrounding it. Several hundred acres have been preserved by the Shaker Village on the west side of town, and by a former state institution that was turned into an organic farm/business/campus on the east side.
Please pray for our strong emphasis on Bible instruction as the identity of our church in the community. We are officially known as the New Gloucester Bible Church, with a full gospel sign and another church sign with scripture verses displayed by the roadside of the town’s major highway. Please pray for spiritual impact as many commuters drive by every day. Also pray for our Good News Club, AWANA, men’s and women’s Bible studies, and Faith Bible Institute, as we seek to reach the lost and build up believers using God’s everlasting Word.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Please be in prayer for Brian and Carole as they travel to Alberta this Friday, June 7.  Brian will be speaking Sunday at the Garrington Community Church where Village Missionaries Ed and Ruth Peters serve.

Monday-Brian and Carole and Tim and Gwen Griffiths travel to California to attend the Village Missions’ conference hosted by the Graeagle Community Church.  Pray for a wonderful time of refreshing and encouragement for the Village Missionaries attending the Graeagle conference.

Praise that Brian and Carole Wechsler made it home safely from celebrating their 40th Anniversary.  (40th Anniversary not the 25th as stated in last weeks addition.   Sorry for the misprint.)

Pray for Roy Adrian as he travels to Alberta to take part in the Peace River Bible Institute (Bible College) board meeting. While on that trip, he will also be visiting a donor church.

Village Missions is so grateful for the churches and individuals who stand behind this ministry in prayer and financial contributions.

Thank you for praying!
