August 4: Steve & Lisa Rief, Redland, OR

Redland, a beautiful community near Oregon City, has Christmas tree and hay farmers, livestock, green grass, pine trees, and a stunning view of Mt. Hood to the east. Many commute to Portland; others are self-employed. People here love the outdoors.    Unfortunately, Oregon is also the most unchurched state in the U.S. This has been a challenge for our family of 9 as we’ve lived and served here for 18 years, striving to build relationships. Our 7 children have ministered alongside us, in a myriad of things that make our service here a “family” team effort. The church body is very loving and has helped us raise our children as if they were their own! Our oldest daughter is now a Village Missions pastor’s wife, and now 3 of our grandchildren and their parents attend church with us.
Pray for our outreaches: Awana (also draws from the local school); Free Zone clothing/food outlet (needy receive free items); men’s & ladies’ Bible studies; and worship service. These all focus on the Word of God and include the children and teens. Pray for continued unity in our church body, and energy & strength as we continue to reach out to our community with the Gospel. Pray for wisdom, strength, and energy to raise a godly family, with 5 still at home and 3 grandchildren. Praise God for His incredible faithfulness to provide our needs and those of the church over the last 18 years, and trust Him to continue to do so.

As You Pray This Week

We praise the Lord for a strong finish to our fiscal year.  Although we had increased expenses in salary supplement and medical premiums, increased giving from our donors and churches enabled us to finish in the black.  We had budgeted a deficit and then experienced an unexpected jump in medical premiums, but God provided abundantly!  Thank you for praying and for giving so that we can continue keeping country churches alive. Please continue to pray for our medical costs and wisdom for our Benefit Board.

We have experienced a decrease in applications for our fall candidate school but have several churches waiting for leadership.  Please pray to the Lord of the harvest!  Pray that our Leadership Training Initiative will be implemented in several churches so that our own churches will start developing future missionaries and church leaders.

Please pray for the Eastern Canadian Village Missions conference as it meets thus week near Montreal. Please pray for Brian as he proclaims God’s Word through the week at this conference.

July 29-31 Mike and Judie Jones will be doing an orientation for our newly appointed District Representatives Greg and Susan Petrie for the states of WA and ID. Pray their time will go well and they will quickly get a handle on the new position.

July 28: Ron & Joan Germain, Northfield, ON

Our church is in a rural agricultural setting, surrounded by fruit trees and rotating crops. We’re only 20-30 minutes from the cities we shop in, and about 40 minutes north of the shores of Lake Erie.
We recently completed our in-house soccer with a starting attendance of 42 children, with most parents staying and some listening to the halftime Bible story. Pray that those children who are not associated with the church will also have a desire to come to our VBS and the parents will want their children to be involved in this as well. Pray for the salvation of children and parents of those we have been developing a relationship with.
Pray that those who are involved with the fall ministries will be refreshed after a summer break and energized to begin ministering once again to young and old alike. Pray that as a church body we each will grow in our walk with the Lord and will have a love for the lost as we minister in our surrounding area that souls will be won for His glory. Pray that we will be sensitive to the opportunities around us.  Thank you for your prayers!

As You Pray This Week

Brian and Carole would appreciate prayer for a restful and renewing vacation over the next week!

As Village Missions approaches the deadline for applications for our fall candidate school, pray that God will lead many more to serve with Village Missions.  We have fields waiting for leadership both in the United States and Canada.

July 22-25 Mike and Judie Jones will be attending a mini conference at Calvary Bible College in KC. Please pray for Mike Jones as he will be speaking  during the sessions and that the week would be an encouragement to the missionaries. Pray for John and Gloria James, District Representatives, who will be organizing the details.

Pray for the missionary couples traveling to and from Kansas City for the mini conference.

July 29-31 Mike and Judie Jones will be doing an orientation for our newly appointed District Representatives Greg and Susan Petrie for the states of WA and ID. Pray their time will go well and they will quickly get a handle on the new position.

Roy and Lennie Adrian report:

“It is vacation time! We thank God for the opportunity to get away, relax away from phones and commuters, and enjoy our family. We’ll be gone for two weeks and will be camping in an isolated area. Pray for protection for family members as we hike and water ski etc.”

July 21: Tyler & Misty Larson, Bethany, KS

In north-central KS, we’re 11 miles from Hunter, the closest town. Because of our location, we think of this church as a “Lighthouse in a Wheat Field.” Most people here are farmers or in a related field. We’re between four different towns and draw people from as far as 40 minutes away. We average 70 people on Sunday mornings, with roughly 50% under age 18.
God has clearly blessed us with a number of children and incredible opportunities to minister to them and their families. We have Awana, VBS, and Bible camps, and recently started a Family Bible Memorization project, encouraging families to memorize a chapter of the Bible each month. Praise God for the growth we have seen at Bethany, both in numbers and spiritually. We are thankful for the men of the church who faithfully serve and desire to lead others closer to our Savior.
We are finishing an addition to the parsonage, so pray for safety for those working on the house. Pray that God would bless and use our ministries to the children of the area to lead them to Christ, and possibly raise up future pastors and missionaries who will live faithful, Christian lives.

AS YOU PRAY THIS WEEK

Dear Praying Friends,

Brian and Carole would appreciate prayer for a restful and renewing vacation over the next two weeks!

As Village Missions approaches the deadline for applications for our fall candidate school, pray that God will lead many more to serve with Village Missions.  We have fields waiting for leadership both in the United States and Canada.

July 23-26 Mike and Judie Jones will be attending a mini conference at Calvary Bible College in KC. Please pray for Mike Jones as he will be speaking  during the sessions and that the week would be an encouragement to the missionaries.

July 29-31 Mike and Judie Jones will be doing an orientation for our newly appointed District Representatives Greg and Susan Petrie for the states of WA and ID. Pray their time will go well and they will quickly get a handle on the new position.

Roy and Lennie Adrian report: “When conference is over, and it is, we take a deep breath of fresh air and our stress levels diminish. We love conference, but it is a lot of work, and now we will take some time here and there during the summer to just smell the roses and get some relaxation time in.”

JULY 14: RON & MARILYN SALLEE, MACHIAS, WA

Machias is 6.5 miles due east of Everett, WA, home of the world’s largest building, the Boeing 747-787 assembly plant. The Puget Sound I-5 corridor, which includes Tacoma-Seattle-Everett, is home to over 4 million people and contains ⅔ of the entire population of the state. The prevailing attitude is very liberal; while there are plenty of churches, WA ranks as one of the lowest states in church attendance. Both Marilyn and I grew up here, and while Machias was ‘out in the country’ when we were young, the area has changed dramatically. Machias Community Church has given itself to training up and sending out Village Missionaries through Contenders Bible School.
Pray that the Lord will continue to send in replacements for all the families we’ve sent out. Pray also for us as we work to export the vision of the Contenders Bible training and the VM Leadership Training Initiative: assisting other pastors & churches in developing leaders and equipping future pastors. www.machias.org.

AS YOU PRAY THIS WEEK

Dear Praying Friends,

July 8-11 Brian and Carole and Mike and Judie Jones will be attending a mini conference at Rexford, KS. Please pray that the week will be an encouragement to the missionaries from CO, NE, MT, SD and KS.  Please pray for safety in travel for all in attendance.

Several of our churches participate or sponsor summer camps. Please pray for safety for the campers. Please pray for a great spiritual harvest.

Please pray for wisdom for a few unexpected situations that have come up recently.

Mike Jones  will be meeting with a single guy July 15-16 to do an orientation so he can begin raising support for placement in one of our internships. Please pray for wisdom for us and him.

July 23-26 we will be attending a mini conference at Calvary Bible College in KC.

Roy and Lennie Adrian are praising God for the good conference they enjoyed. The weather was fairly good, probably cool enough for those who don’t do so well in the summer heat of the Okanagan. Our speaker, Lyndon Wall of Refresh Ministries, did a great job of bringing us into the presence of our Lord. We praise God.

July 7: Ray & Carla Berry, Arcadia, NE

Arcadia is located in central Nebraska, along the Middle Loup River, an hour’s drive north of both Grand Island and Kearney. Arcadia is surrounded by rolling hills, center pivot irrigation fields, and pastureland. Arcadia has a great diversity of ages. Faith Bible Church tends to be made up of mostly the 50+ crowd.
Pray that we can reach younger families with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Even though we have a smaller town of 350 people, we have several businesses in our little town. We would like to reach out to these people and show them God’s mercy through the way we live. Also pray for the health of our family, as well as Carla’s mother Carol, who just underwent surgery on her hip once again.

As You Pray This Week

Dear Praying Friends,

Thank you for praying for the various mini-conferences over the past weeks.  Missionaries safely traveled to the conferences and were refreshed in the ministry.  Please pray for Brian and Carole as they speak at the Kersey Community Church in Kersey, CO, July 7.

Mike and Judie Jones and Tim and Gwen Griffiths praise God for the great time this past week at Lava Hot Springs, ID, where they spent two days with missionaries from several fields in the Northwest. Mike brought a series of messages that he trusts God will use in the lives of these couples and their churches for the advancement of the kingdom.

July 8-11 Brian and Carole and Mike and Judie Jones will be attending a mini-conference at Rexford, KS. Please pray that the week will be an encouragement and safety in travel to all in attendance.

Please pray for wisdom from above as Village Missions deals with placement and other difficult decisions coming up in the next few weeks.

Praise God! We have had a marvelous conference at Green Bay Bible Camp in Kelowna, BC. Thank you for praying for us. Lyndon Wall of Refresh Ministries, did an excellent job of ministering to our missionary family. We had great fellowship, and good food for body and soul.
