March 2: Mike & Carolyn Preston, Graeagle, CA

PrestonGraeagle is a town of about 750 (mostly retired) located in the Mohawk Valley of the Sierras, about an hour north of Lake Tahoe. With an elevation of 4500 ft., we are a resort town with plenty of golfing, hiking, and fishing in the immediate area. We have two general prayer requests. First, we live in a small area impacted by the economic downturn. Our county, our community, and our church have shrunk. God has brought several new families to our church over the past two years, but our numbers are still down. Pray that our ministries can remain vital and that our church can be a blessing to those who attend and to our community. Secondly, we have  an unusually high number of people who are seriously, even terminally, ill this year. We have lost several from our church and community. Although these are times when the gospel shines most brightly, they are heavy with sadness. Though our conversations turn often to loss, pray that they will be filled with life, hope, and glory. Pray that those who are in Christ will always be prepared to give clear and powerful explanations of the hope that is Jesus.

February 23: Dale & Suzie Bussinger, Elk Mound, WI

bussingerOur little church is situated in west-central Wisconsin among crop and dairy farms. We are a country church with people from various walks of life, work backgrounds, and ages – babies through elderly. This is part of the area where the lumber harvested in the mid-19th century built our nation. It is said that enough pine was harvested from the Black River Valley alone to build a boardwalk nine feet wide and four inches thick around the entire world. Please pray for God’s watch care over the preaching of the Word. Pray that our appetite for God’s Word would always crave more. Pray that our witness among family and friends would be salt and light.

As You Pray This Week

cross prayingPlease pray for the District Representative meetings this week. Pray for safety in travel as they come from different parts of the country.  Please pray for wisdom as we are transitioning to several new District Representatives due to retirements. Also pray for wisdom as we discuss implementation of the Contenders Discipleship Initiative as well as make plans to have longer staff conference that involves families in 2015, as part of our training for this Initiative.

On Feb 16-17 Lennie and Roy Adrian will be traveling to Dallas, OR, for the DR meetings. Pray for travel safety. The weather is uncertain at best and there is a lot of snow on the mountain passes that we have to negotiate. Continue to pray for Frieda, Lennie’s sister, who is battling cancer. She is handling the chemo quite well at this time.

The next two weeks Mike and Judie Jones will be in Oregon for our annual District Representative meeting and a mini conference at Cannon Beach.  Pray for wisdom as we plan for the future.

Pray for Tim Griffiths as he goes to Arizona to represent Village Missions at a missions conference at Grace Bible Church.  Brian Wechsler and Tim Griffiths will be having a Village Missions Ministry Update on March 2 at the Palm West Community Church in Sun City West.

Pray for our Oregon and Washington missionaries that will be attending the mini conference February 25-27, that they will have safe travel, but also will be encouraged by their time together. Mike Jones will have a speaking session during that time and ask for your prayers for wisdom in communicating with fellow missionaries.

Pray also for the District Representatives as they conduct final interviews with potential Candidate school applicants. So far we have it looks as though we will have eight new candidates. This year’s school is March 31-April 4.

Please pray for Tim Griffiths and Brian Wechsler as they have meetings at Contexture Inc. in California regarding our publications and communications.  Please pray for wisdom as we plan the coming year. The President of Contexture, Joe Class, has a long history of involvement with Village Missions.  He once attended our field in Priest Lake, ID and his step-dad was led to Christ by Village Missionary Ben Elliott, who recently went home to be with the Lord.

Please continue to pray for Lennie Adrian’s sister Frieda as she undergoes her second round of chemo. It is a five hour intravenous drip – that’s quite an ordeal. Also pray for Lee and Arlene Stephenson (Progress BC) as they travel to Manitoba to attend Arlene’s dad’s funeral. Arlene’s dad was 87 years old, but his advanced age does not minimize the loss, as his passing was unexpected.

February 16: John & Lisa O’Keefe, Sebeka, MN

okeefeBlowers Chapel is about 3½ hours NW of the Twin Cities. The area is agricultural; dairy farms, cash crops, and cattle farms dot the scenes along the long stretches of highways. The winters are cold, but the folks seem to weather them well with a heartiness and industrious attitude. Lisa and I are very grateful to report that God is at work in His church as we learn together that Jesus will build His church. We have several Bible studies in place and ask you to pray for people to be able to make time for body life. We seem to have more technology and more convenience, but less time to be together as Christians. It’s important that we find the time to sit at Jesus’ feet and get spiritually fit so that we can be ready to give an answer for the faith that is in us. We can then attract folks we work with and live with more effectively.  James tells us that our lives are like a vapor that appears for awhile and then vanishes. Please pray that we will be able to be an encouragement to our church to redeem the time and make the most of opportunities and blessings that God lavishes upon us. Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. Rev 1:7

February 9: Bill & Rebecca Troxel, Nenana, AK

Troxel, Bill RebeccaNenana is an Athabaskan village in the Interior of Alaska. It is remote, rugged, and experiences extreme weather. The village is almost evenly split between Athabaskan natives and all other non-natives. The total population is about 400 people. I (Bill) have become involved in fire and EMS in the village. This requires a lot of hours on bad roads and in hostile situations. Please pray for continued safety. We celebrate the goodness and mercy of God as I’ve been kept safe even after a drunk driver hit the ambulance while transporting a patient. There have been a lot of deaths this winter. Several families have lost 2 or more members. Please pray for opportunities to share the Gospel and offer true hope. Join us in praying for strong Athabaskan believers to rise up as leaders in the church to the glory of God and the proclamation of the Good News to other Native folks who desperately need salvation in Jesus Christ.

AS YOU PRAY THIS WEEK

prayer-biblePlease be in prayer for Brian as he preaches at the Lenwood Community Church, in Lenwood CA, a church served by Village Missionaries Dave and Serena Carr.  God is doing amazing things at this church and Carole and Brian are looking forward to being there.  Please pray for this congregation as they seek to reach the many hurting people in their area.

Please pray for Tim Griffiths and Brian as they have meetings at Contexture Inc. in California regarding our publications and communications.

Please pray for upcoming meetings in February: District Representative Meeting Feb. 18-19 and Cannon Beach Mini-Conference Feb. 25-27.

Roy and Lennie Adrian ask you to continue to pray for Lennie’s sister Frieda, who is being treated for stage 4 ovarian cancer. So far she is handling the chemo quite well.

Pray for our application process as Administrative Assistant, Lisa West, works at getting all the paperwork in order for our spring Candidate School. It looks like we may have 9 couples attending. We currently have 17 churches in the US and 8 churches in Canada waiting for leadership.  Pray for those churches as they patiently wait for a new leader.
