Advancing on Our Knees

Without prayer, ministering for 66 years in rural North America would have been impossible.

Now, as we celebrate sixty years of serving rural communities, we are asking for renewed prayer.   We believe it is vitally important we put an increasing emphasis on intercessory prayer on behalf of…

  1. The people who live in each community Village Missions serves
  2. Each Village Missionary and their families
  3. The nations in which we serve – Canada and the United States
  4. The board and leaders of Village Missions

Please join us in prayer.  You can sign up today to receive regular prayer updates.

As You Pray This Week

woman prayingPlease be praying for the National Board of Directors as they are preparing for the upcoming spring board meeting.

Roy Adrian writes, “Sometimes we look at the events of life and we wonder; ‘what is God doing?’ Then we look at what we know of God and praise Him for His goodness. We are asking you to pray for another of Lennie’s sisters. Her sister Marlene is in the hospital in Kelowna with an unknown fungus in her lungs. She has been in an induced coma for a week now, and we are not seeing much if any improvement. We ask you to pray for her healing, but also that the purposes of God would be realized through this situation.”

This week, Roy Adrian will head out to Wistaria BC (Burns Lake country) to take part in the Northern Village Missions Church Conference. Pray for Roy as he shares the Word of God. May the name of Jesus be lifted up!!

Tim and Gwen Griffiths are wrapping up visiting donors and friends in Nebraska and Kansas. Please pray for safety in travel as they head back to Oregon on Friday. Also, please pray for friends that we visited in Baxter Springs, KS, that we were able to catch up with on this trip. Sunday night a tornado ripped through the town. Praise God that their church was not destroyed.

May 4: Tom & Nancy Stroud, Greenacres, OR

stroud-tom-nancyGreenacres is located between Coos Bay/North Bend and Coquille on the beautiful Oregon Coast. We are so blessed to live here and enjoy all the South Coast offers. While it does rain quite a bit, it’s what makes our area so lush and green. Our church members come from these surrounding areas, as well as right here in Greenacres. Please pray for the huge building project at our VM camp, Camp Fircroft. All the Village Missions churches in the area (including some that are a part of camp but from other independent churches) have been working all winter on a new and larger lodge.  The Lord is providing funds and workers to build and great stories to share. Now that better weather is here, please pray for completion of all necessary work to have the lodge dried in. It will take one more long winter to complete the building. Greenacres thanks you for bringing our church before the Lord. We take great joy in worshipping, learning, and fellowshipping together.

April 27: Len & Helen Trenholm, Meadow Creek, BC

TrenholmMeadow Creek (40 km north of Kaslo) is a small group of communities in the southern interior of BC with a population of about 400 people. The general area is spiritually very dark – steeped in New Age doctrine, the drug culture, environmentalism, left-wing politics, welfare, and a fierce independence that wants to be separated from government encroachment, cell phones, organized religion, and accountability.

Within the last several years our area has lost about 160 sawmill jobs, economically devastating our tiny valley. In this same time frame we have lost 3/4 of our church body: people moving away to find work and older people moving closer to medical facilities. God has miraculously provided adequate funding for the church, but we are now so small we are having difficulty even forming a church board. Please pray for wisdom and God’s leading as we consider the future of the work here. There are rumors that the mill will start again after several years of being closed, and the Mission has just very graciously indicated that they would continue supporting the work here. We look forward to our continuing ministry here at Meadow Creek. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness to this valley!

April 20: Dave & Cindy Fraher, W Bethel, ME

FraherWe are in the foothills of the White Mountain National Park, not far from the NH border. It is known for its outdoor sports, year-round activities from downhill skiing to biking in the summer. Thus the number one industry is tourism. There are many privately owned hotels and restaurants that cater to those from out of town. Please pray as we continue to reach out to our community through our programs for children, to women as the ladies hold events throughout the year, for men as we involve ourselves in activities with other men.

April 13: Fred & Cinda Tribble, Endicott, WA

Endicott is a rural farming town in SE Washington State, with about 290 people. The town is surrounded by rolling hills known as “The Palouse.” Wheat, barley, lentils, and garbanzo beans are the main crops – also, cattle are ranched here. The town is slowly dying as farms are being farmed by renters where the owners have gotten too old and their children do not want to take over. We came to Endicott one year ago in order to love these folks into the kingdom. We have spent the last year doing a lot of food-related outreach. There have also been Bible studies and mercy ministry to those that are poor or shut-in. Pray that people see the genuine love and respond to the gospel message. Also pray for the growth of the church, in depth and numbers. Pray for our health and strength to continue this ministry for years to come.

As You Pray This Week

woman prayingThank you for praying for our candidate school. We had a wonderful group of couples. Please pray for these couples as they raise support and as we pray about their place of assignment. You can see pictures of our school by clicking on this link.

Please pray for Brian as he travels this Wednesday April 9 to Edmonton, AB for the Canadian Board. The Canadian D.R.’s will meet with Brian on Thursday and then the board meeting will occur on Friday and Saturday morning.  Then Sunday, April 13 Brian and Carole will be flying to Kansas City and then Branson, MO for  ANAM (Association of North American Missions) meetings during the week.  Please pray for safety for travel for all those attending and for valuable meetings.

Roy and Lennie Adrian are traveling to Edmonton, Alberta, this week to visit Lennie’s sister Frieda who has just undergone cancer surgery. Frieda is doing well, but will need more Chemo treatments. Roy will also be attending the Canadian Village Mission board meeting which takes place April 11-12. Please pray for these vitally important meetings.

Tim Griffiths had a good weekend at The Table Conference in Dallas, TX, and was able to make several new contacts as well as connect with contacts he met on his last trip to Texas.

AS YOU PRAY THIS WEEK

woman prayingOur Candidate School started this Monday and will conclude on Fridayevening.  God has led eight quality couples to make application to Village Missions.  Please pray that God will make it clear to both them and to us if He is indeed calling them to service with Village Missions.  Many of these couples have ties to VM Fields.

We would like to invite those in the Dallas, OR area to attend our Chapel Service Thursday night, April 3, at the Dallas Alliance Church, 775 E. Ellendale

Avenue, Dallas, OR (across from our office). The service will start at 7:00 pm.  Each couple will share how God has brought them to faith in Christ and how He has called them into the ministry of Village Missions. Brian Wechsler will then give a challenge.  It would be great if you could come out and support the candidates. I know that you will be blessed!

Please be in prayer for the upcoming Canadian Board meeting beginning with District Representative meetings on April 10 and the board meeting April 11-12 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Roy Adrian writes, “Pray for our missionaries who are going through difficult circumstances. I can’t reveal names due to confidentiality requirements, but God knows and directs our prayers. I often comment that the gospel ministry bring us to the ‘highest of highs, and the lowest of lows.’ Some of our missionaries are experiencing some of those low times this week.”

Please pray for Tim Griffiths as he travels to Dallas, TX, to represent Village Missions at the Table Conference, April 4 &5.
