June 1: Ed & Clara Sulpice, Ono-Igo, CA

SulpiceOno and Igo are two towns located amongst the beautiful northern foothills of California’s Central Valley. The towns, which sit 4 miles apart and have a total population of about 1000, are located 15 miles Southwest of Redding. The economy of the area is primarily agricultural, along with those who commute to and from Redding to work. There are many retired people who call Ono and Igo home as well. Our primary prayer is that God continue to use Ono-Igo Community Church as a vehicle to display His love.

As you pray this week!

crossesThank you for praying for the Village Missions National Board meeting last week.   At the meeting we had special reports and updates by David Duff (Ecola Bible School) and Ron Sallee (Contenders Discipleship Initiative).

Brian Wechsler and several Village Missionaries are attending the Moody Bible College Pastor’s Conference. Please pray that they would be refreshed and encouraged throughout this week.

Roy Adrian writes, “We (Alberta Village Missionaries) are in the process of planning our spring fundraising banquet in Red Deer (Lincoln Hall). Pray for wisdom and grace for those doing the planning and pray that God would move on the hearts of potential donors, to attend the banquet and to support Village Missions. Pray for Brian Wechsler as he prepares to speak that that function.”

May 25: Keith & Lynda Brich, Oak, NE

Brich Keith LyndaOur little church is located in Oak, a small village of about 60 people in south-central Nebraska, surrounded by farm country. Our church is made up of people ranging from infants to the elderly. Many in the surrounding communities do not realize that Oak still has a church tucked away in our small town. This is an historic area, as we are situated on the Oregon Trail. In fact, every four years the town holds a celebration reenacting battles that took place between Native Americans and settlers – utilizing up to 300 volunteers in order to produce the event. This summer will mark the 150th anniversary of some memorable raids. We are expecting hundreds or thousands of people to come into our little town and the surrounding area this July. Also, this is shaping up to be a busy summer, with a Vacation Bible School in June, the Oregon Trail Celebration in July, and various other ministries and activities. Please pray for outreach to the area. Please pray that hearts will be opened to the Gospel.

As You Pray This Week

crossesLots of preparation goes into the U.S. Board meeting, coming up May 15-16. We just had a conference call between our Pension Committee and our investment advisors. We need great wisdom in choosing the right investments and practices to maintain the pension we provide ($12 per month per year of service) for our missionaries. On May 12 the Benefit Board hear from Blue Cross about performance in our health insurance plan. This information will have a bearing on future premiums. Board members will approve the July 2014-June 2015 budget, which includes spending for staff conferences in 2015. Please continue to pray for safe travel for our board members and for wisdom!

Roy Adrian writes, “Thank you for praying for Lennie’s sister Marlene. She is now fully awake, and the confusion is slowly dissipating. She is not able to walk yet and is not eating properly. We praise God for His good hand upon her, and we pray that this incident will open doors to discuss spiritual matters with her and her husband.”

May 18: Darrel & Cathy Miller, Brown County, IN

Miller DarrelCottonwood Church is located in Brown County, IN, about 45 minutes south of Indianapolis. This region is known for its wooded areas and rolling hills; it is a beautiful part of Indiana. We have been serving here for 32 years. Pray for the outreach to children – our church has a ministry to pick up children from unchurched homes. The older folks take great joy in nurturing these young people. There is a loving and joyful atmosphere in this country congregation.

May 11: Wayne & Joy Deneault, Snug Harbour, ON

DeneaultIn Central Ontario, about 3 hours north of Toronto, Carling Township is on Georgian Bay (part of Lake Huron). Many dead-end roads lead to million-dollar cottages, used in the summer months. There are about 1200 permanent residents, for whom ‘town’ is Parry Sound, a 20-30 minute drive. Snug Harbour Community Church has been in the Township for about 50 years, the last 14 of which Village Missionaries have served. Most of our residents are content to live here ‘where nothing bad ever happens,’ and see no need for church or ‘religion.’ Ask our Father to allow them to see their sin, to glorify His name through the proclamation of the gospel, and to encourage the few (~20) who are members of His church. O, for a thousand tongues to sing our great Redeemer’s praise!

Roy and Lennie Adrian want to thank you all for praying for Lennie’s sister Marlene. Marlene has made a most dramatic recovery, which in my opinion can only be attributed to answered prayer. Marlene is now awake, the tubes and wires have been removed and she is breathing on her own. She is still confused because of the induced coma, but we are expecting a full recovery. Praise the Lord!
