As you pray this week…….

prayer4Thank you for praying for the two conferences for Village Missionaries the past two weeks.  Both conferences were well attended and both conferences showed the video series by Dr. Paul Tripp called “Dangerous Calling.”  This series deals with the pitfalls of pastoral ministry.  Pray that all those who viewed the series will take to heart the many important lessons about having a real and vibrant walk with Jesus Christ.  Please pray for your pastor!

Thank you for praying for the fund raising dinner in Alberta as well.  The 98 people in attendance gave over $22,000 for VM Canada.  Praise the Lord!  This offering will just about balance our budget for the fiscal year ending in June.

Carole and I had the privilege, while we were attending the conference,prayer-requests of visiting our new field in Interior, SD, about an hour’s drive east of Rapid City and in the Badlands.  What a joy to meet with a good group of people and learn how much they are looking forward to their first Village Missionary.  When he comes, he will be the first resident pastor in the community for over 50 years! Please pray for wisdom as we seek just the right couple to serve Interior, SD! I hope to upload soon pictures to Facebook!

On a personal note, our daughter is being married in Los Angeles on June 28.  Please pray that the wedding will be a testimony to Jesus Christ (Eph. 5:22-33).  Please pray for Sarah and Casey as they begin their married life together.

Roy Adrian writes:

I (Roy) want to give God all the praise and glory for the wonderful fundraising banquet that was held in Red Deer (Lacombe) last week. God moved on the hearts of donors and they responded generously. Thank you to all who worked to set it up and to Brian for speaking. Praise God! Please pray for our annual staff conference – June 26 – 29. Hal York, a former Village Missionary is the keynote speaker.

Thank you for praying for the donor event in Canada over the weekend. The event was a huge success.

June 22: Wayne & Marcia Taylor, Cable, OH

taylor-wNew Life Christian Church is just outside of Cable (downtown population: 93), about an hour’s drive NW of Columbus. The main sanctuary was built in 1863 during the Civil War. A Historical Marker in town tells the story of the Lincoln Train stopping in Cable to refuel as his body was being transported home for burial. Farms growing mostly feed corn & soybeans surround the area, though many residents work at the nearby Honda plant. The people in our church family, though currently small in number, live lives that demonstrate their love for the Lord and their neighbors. Church outreaches include a Good News Club in the local elementary school, involvement in a school reading program for struggling students, serving at our county’s Crises Pregnancy Center where I (Wayne) am on the Board, and leading a weekly Bible study and a monthly worship service at a nearby nursing center. The Lord also continues to open opportunities for us to share the Gospel and to counsel from His Word. Pray that we will be able to reach more children and their families through the Good News Club, and that many would receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and grow in their faith. Pray for spiritual and numerical growth in the church and for continuing opportunities to impact lives in our community with the Gospel. We praise the Lord for His faithfulness as we serve Him here.

As You Pray This Week…

cross prayingPlease be in prayer for the Southwest Conference for Village Missionaries as it finishes up Thursday, and missionaries travel home Friday.  Brian would appreciate prayer as he travels north to Edmonton on Friday to speak at our Village Missions Canada Fundraiser near our field in Meadowbrook, AB. Please pray for good attendance for this dinner organized by the Village Missionaries in the area.  Dinners like these play a significant role in the funding for Village Missions Canada and our ability to continue providing salary support for our missionaries.

Roy Adrian is serving on the board of PRBI, a Bible College in Northern Alberta. By the time you read this, Roy will have just returned from our Annual General Meeting. He is asking you to pray that the Spirit of God would move on the hearts and minds of young people, and young families, to lead them to Bible College and perhaps into preparation for ministry. By God’s grace and in answer to your prayers, some may apply to Village Missions.

Pray for Tim and Gwen Griffiths as they travel to the mini-conference in Rapid City, SD.   Please pray for the other meetings that we have along the way in Washington and Montana.  Also, please pray for all of the missionaries in the Mountain Central District as they drive to Rapid City next Sunday and Monday.

June 15: Ryan & Jenneke Schnee, Middle Lake, SK

schnee family pictureThis year will mark three years for us with Village Missions and three years in Middle Lake; 2013 marked 30 years of AWANA, and 35 years of VM serving Middle Lake Gospel Church. The odometer on my bike tripped over 1000 miles of riding around our little town. It has recorded a few trips out into the country and many trips to the church for Bible studies, the seniors’ home, the post office for coffee, and visits around town. We look forward to the sign that said, caution: surface failures next 34 km to be moved north of town when the highway into town is repaved. A new road, new community hall, new truck wash, and new development on the other side of the lake have been positive economic signs that indicate that the steady decline in population is being reversed, and our church can thrive in a thriving community. We praise God for adding two new families to our church this past year, and continue to pray for new families to join us as our existing church continues to grow spiritually.

June 8: Dan & Cheryl Wuthrich, Mayer, AZ

Wuthrich, Dan & CherylMayer is within 5 miles of the geographic center of Arizona. It is a small rural community of about 1,400 people located on Highway 69, but lies within a 15-mile corridor on this highway in which are several similar communities, with a total population of about 8,000. We are located in the beautiful high desert at an elevation of about 4,500 feet, so it is not nearly as hot as Phoenix and we tend to get the occasional snow in the winter. The people are warm and giving, but the general population is quite poor and the vast majority of the residences in our community are manufactured homes. There is no real employment in the immediate area, and broken families and substance abuse are common.

Please pray that our church will continue to reach out in meeting both the physical and spiritual needs of our community. Pray that the gospel of Jesus Christ would be seen for what it is – the only truly satisfying answer to the deepest needs of men and women. Pray that we would especially be able to connect with and minister to younger families in our community, whether by helping in the schools, offering children’s programs, or coming alongside parents and guardians to share Christ and helping them to raise their kids so that they all grow in the faith and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As you pray this week!

cannon beachPlease pray for Brian as he travels to Graeagle, CA next Monday, June 9, for the Southwest Mini-Conference. Pray that the conference will bless the missionaries and leave them encouraged and refreshed for their ministries. Then from Graeagle Brian will travel Friday to Edmonton, AB to speak at a fund-raising dinner for Village Missions Canada Saturday evening.  Please pray that the Lord will use this meeting to raise funds for the ongoing work of keeping country churches alive in Canada.  Brian will travel back from Canada Sunday, June 15; then he and Carole will leave for Rapid City, SD Monday for the mini-conference of the Mountain District. Please pray for strength and the ability to minister in these different locations!

Roy Adrian writes, “Thank you for praying for Lennie’s sisters, Frieda and Marlene. Frieda has had her final chemo treatment and will now await the results from the necessary scans etc. Marlene is improving but still has a long way to go. She may be able to continue recovery in the comfort of her own home in the near future.”
