Aug 3: Tom & Becky Gerbrandt, Gwynne, AB

gerbrandtGwynne is a small valley community nearly halfway between two small cities: Camrose (15 minutes east) and Wetaskiwin (10 minutes west). Most are employed in some type of oil field related work, many on a 10 days on/5 days off rotation. This is also an agricultural area: both livestock and grain. Pray for the discussion beginning to take place about whether or not to keep the Gwynne School (grades K-9) open. Pray for a deepening commitment of the professing Christians to God, and His ministry for them in this community. Pray for our VBS in August. Many children attend who do not live in the immediate area. Pray for the spiritual health of those attending Gwynne Community Church and for faith that God will provide as we trust Him into the future.

As You Pray This Week

farmer-prayerThank you for praying for the Mid-West Conference. It was well attended and we had great fellowship. The conference was bittersweet as well, as we recognized the retirement of Village Missionaries Larry and Kathy Shetenhelm and District Representatives John and Gloria James.

Please pray for the Eastern Canadian mini-conference, taking place as you receive this. Please pray for Brian as he presents a series of messages on 2 Corinthians 3-4 about not losing heart in the ministry. Pray that our missionaries will be refreshed and have safety as they travel home.

Pray for Mike Jones as he speaks at Senior Camp (run by Village Missionaries Tyler and Misty Larson).

Our Contenders Discipleship Initiative will be starting in September. Please pray for the finalization of all materials, video, web site, etc, and for our first class in Bibliology and Bible Study Methods. Pray for great interest within our churches in this rigorous, yet extremely helpful first class.

Thank you for praying for our outreach at Summerfest in Dallas, OR.   We were able to connect with several new people, find a few more volunteers, and answer many questions about who we are.

Pray for Tim Griffiths as he travels to Buffalo, New York, this week. Tim Griffiths, Eric Roselund and Mike MacWhinnie will be overseeing a Village Missions booth at Kingdom Bound, August 3-6. Please pray that we are able to make contact with many new people.

Lennie and Roy Adrian will be on vacation for the next couple of weeks. They will be working with, and ministering to, a youth group from Saskatchewan. Pray for safety for all who are involved.

Lennie Adrian’s sister Marlene is back in the hospital and they do not know what is wrong. They are taking her back to the hospital in Kelowna, so it looks very serious. Please keep her in your prayers.

As you pray this week

farmer-prayerWhen you receive this email, the Midwest Mini-Conference will be in full swing.  Please pray for encouragement and strengthening for the missionaries who attend.  Thursday night we will be saying farewell to retiring District Representatives John and Gloria James who have faithfully served their district for many years.  We will also be welcoming new District Representatives Dave and Joann Hernandez.  Please be in prayer for both couples as they transition to new roles.

Please continue to pray for Lisa West as she recovers from our surgery.  Lisa normally processes applications, so please pray that we will be able to continue processing the incoming applications to Village Missions.

The Eastern Canadian Mini-Conference starts Monday, July 28. Pray for great encouragement for our missionaries and safety as they travel to the conference north of Montreal at Capernwray.  Please pray for Carole and I as we travel there and as we both have speaking assignments at this conference.

Please pray for our Contenders Discipleship Initiative, which will bring Bible-college level training to our churches and will launch in September.  Please pray for wisdom for Village Missionary Ron Sallee and his team as they produce the material.

Village Missions will be having a booth at Summerfest here in Dallas, OR, this weekend.  Pray that we can have an outreach to the community here and more will become aware of what Village Missions is all about.

Lennie and Roy Adrian will be on vacation for the next couple of weeks. They will be working with, and ministering to a youth group from Saskatchewan. Pray for safety for all who are involved.

July 27: Joe & Jenny Murrell, Pine Valley, CA

murrell-april-19thPine Valley is a great place to live! It’s in the mountains 45 miles east of San Diego, about 4000 feet above sea level, right off Interstate 8 on the way to the desert. Most folks commute into town or other communities around San Diego for work. At Pine Valley Community Church for ten years, we’ve been blessed with a young, thriving, exciting church on mission with God. They intentionally reach out to our community and the world with the gospel of the kingdom. However, Jenny and I are in transition. We’ve been asked by the Mission to become Southwest District Representatives, starting in August. Praise the Lord, He has provided some dear friends as Associates (interim pastor) who will begin in August. Pray for the church to continue strongly forward in the vision of raising up new generations of both physical and spiritual descendants who will be strong, bold, and fruitful in the love and mission of our Lord. Pray for God’s comfort, grace, protection, and power to lead them during the transition time, for wisdom for the Associates as they minister, and for God to raise up the next pastor He will choose to shepherd PVCC. Also pray for Jenny and me in this transition: for our hearts to be completely open to the Lord to learn how to encourage, bless, and shepherd the VM pastors and their families who will be under our care; that the missionaries will feel loved by us; for safety as we travel; for God’s provision of financial needs in this transition and beyond as we begin this new position.

July 20: Chris & Tammy Immer, Lummi Island, WA

immersLummi Island is the easternmost island in San Juan Archipelagos, accessed by a 6-minute ferry ride on the Whatcom Chief. Being a closed community with only 17 miles total of road and a population of 800 year-round, swelling to 2000 in the summer, makes for a very interesting community. Pray for spiritual maturity in Island Chapel. Pray for God to add to His church such as should be saved on Lummi Island. Pray for the saints to press on toward the goal to which they have been called. Pray that IC would be known for love above all else.

July 13: Steve & Candi Hill, Inchelium, WA

hill-sInchelium is a small isolated community on the Colville Confederated Indian Reservation, connected to the east by a small ferry across Lake Roosevelt. The main industries are forestry, tourism, and ranching. For the last forty years the Inchelium Community Church has sought to minister to our diverse community as well as those who vacation in our beautiful area. We have a large Vacation Bible School each summer – pray that we can involve those children in Sunday school and other discipling ministries. Pray that our increasing number of Christian men will grow deeper in their walk with Christ.

As you pray this week…..

flagCanada celebrated Canada Day on July 1 and the U.S. will celebrate Independence Day on July 4.  We thank the Lord for the religious freedom that we enjoy in both our countries.  Please pray that those freedoms will continue as both countries slide into a post-Christian worldview.  Pray that the churches we serve will be faithful in proclaiming Christ in the remaining days we have, and that a revival will spring from one of the churches that will sweep across our two countries.

We have two upcoming mini-conferences in July.  We will have the mid-west conference starting July 22 and the eastern Canadian conference starting July 28.  Please pray for the preparations for both these conferences.

As our fiscal year ended in June, we praise the Lord for His abundant financial; provision for Village Missions in both our countries.  Although the figures are still being processed, we believe that both Village Missions U.S. and Village Missions Canada ended in the black.  This is a real praise as the U.S. faced pressures from health insurance and pension costs and Canada pressure from a raise in the minimum base salary for missionaries.  We praise the Lord for our partners who are helping us keep country churches alive and helping us reach many for Jesus Christ!  Brian Wechsler

From Roy Adrian…We just received the news from Lennie’s sister Frieda, that she is CANCER FREE!!!! There is no sign of the disease at this time. Frieda’s recovery from being so very near to death is nothing short of miraculous. We give our Lord Jesus Christ the praise and glory, and thank all who prayed. Praise The Lord.

July 6: Roy & Lennie Adrian, Regional Administrator Village Missions Canada

Roy AdrianLennie and I live in the beautiful Shuswap district of the North Okanagan Valley. Salmon Arm is 20 miles south and Kamloops is an hour west of us. We often say, as we survey the mountains and lakes around us, that we live in the best place in the world. We have a home in a tiny rural community called Notch Hill, on four acres of property. We attend and serve in a little independent church, Chase Community Fellowship, in Chase, BC, just 20 minutes from Sorrento. Lennie and I serve the Mission through processing the donations and receipting for Village Missions Canada, and taking care of the office and administration. Although we have the privilege of living in what we would call our ‘home community,’ both of our daughters are far from us. Our daughter Victoria and her husband Elliott (Harder) serve as Village Missionaries in Nukko Lake, BC, and our daughter Cindy and her husband Brent (Klassen) serve as youth pastor in a church in a rural community north of Saskatoon. We don’t get to see our families often enough, but we support them in their ministries and really look forward to the times we do get to spend together. Our son Michael, with his wife and two little boys, live in Salmon Arm, and we get to enjoy them a lot more! Praise God for our family! Recently we have seen God’s wonderful hand of grace and mercy on two of Lennie’s sisters. The oldest sister, Frieda, is recovering very well from cancer surgery and has had her final chemo treatment. The next older sister has come out of a two-week medically induced coma, as she battled double pneumonia. She is doing very well but has a long way to go to full recovery. Thank you to all who prayed for these two dear ladies. We give God all the praise and glory for their healing. Several members of these two families do not know the Lord – please pray for the salvation of their sons, and spouses. It is our prayer that God will use the suffering they are going through to speak to their families.
