August 31: Carl & Drea DeyArmin, Vesta, WA

DeyArminVesta, Artic, and Brooklyn, with just over 400 residents among the three, comprise what’s generally called the North River Valley. Located along 18 miles of paved road, 19 miles south of Aberdeen, Vesta is roughly halfway between the Pacific Ocean and Olympia. It’s at least 20 miles in most directions before finding another church. The Valley gets 30 inches more annual rain than Seattle, very nearly classifying it as a rainforest. Surrounded by tall timber, there’s a great deal of logging activity, though nowhere near its peak from the early days. Along North River Road are just five businesses: the church, tavern, grange, school (K-12), and a retreat center (Shiloh Bible Camp). Jobs are difficult to come by here; most work in Aberdeen or Montesano. Residents range from dependence on government assistance to comfortable retirement. There are small farms & ranches, as well as those attempting to live completely off the grid. From a human perspective, this church should not be here. Small, declining community population, the previous pastor died in 2004 (we arrived in 2012), and a flood in 2009 that did $70k damage to the church and parsonage – that’s a recipe for a church closing for good. But God in His kindness saw fit to keep the doors open, and providentially used Village Missions to accomplish it. Pray for our community residents to recognize God’s hand in this, and that God would graciously draw them to Himself. We’re grateful for tremendous peace and harmony within our church body, and we pray that it would continue, to the benefit of our church family and as a testimony to those who do not yet know Christ.

August 24: Tim & Debbie Easterling, Encampment, WY

Easterling TChristian Community Church is in a rural ranching area, with recreational activities of river fly fishing in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. We are located in the Medicine Bow National Forest.

Prayer Requests: We really need a strong Christian family or couple to come alongside us in ministry.  Please pray for wisdom as we seek to develop spiritual leadership in the church and we seek to reach the lost in the area. We need wisdom especially as to how to connect with the younger generation in this community.

As You Pray This Week

teens prayingPlease pray for Brian and Carole as they go on a much needed vacation after a hectic travel schedule. Please pray that they will come back refreshed and renewed!

Please pray for our many missionaries that play a vital part in our local schools across the country as they start back up.  Coaching sports, driving buses, substitute teaching, among a host of other things.  Also, pray for our young missionaries as they interact with their classmates throughout the year.

Thank you for praying for Lennie Adrian’s sister Marlene. Marlene is doing much better, and although the doctors cannot figure out what happened or why, which leaves Marlene feeling very vulnerable, she seems to be recovering nicely. She is back at home and doing well.

August 17: Tim & Kelley Kirschner, Montville, CT

KirschnerOur little church is 170 years old and is set between two much larger towns. It is within miles of two famous casinos in an extremely calloused society.  From an outside perspective, it would seem there is little hope, and that the odds are against this tiny beacon of light. Yet, while facing all kinds of adversity, we praise Jesus, for in Christ our strength, our hope, and our light is found! Pray for salvation for many. Pray for church leadership, our outreach ministry, and our children’s programs. Prayer is needed as we install new ideas, that they would be received with soft gracious hearts. We all so desperately need a fresh breath of God!

August 10: Mark & Debbie Lugg, Bowman, CA

LuggBowman is a rural area spread along Bowman Road in northern Tehama County, in northern California. It is composed of retired people, people who work in Redding, and people who desire to escape city life for one reason or another. Pray that we would reach our community more effectively. Pray that we would be able to incorporate new families into the church. Pray that we would have workers to staff our children’s ministries. Pray that we would be able to establish a Christian 12-Step program. We think that this will help us connect with our community.

farmer-prayerPlease pray for Brian and  Carole Wechsler as they are at Genesee Home in California, receiving spiritual renewal and relaxation.

Pray for Tim Griffiths, Eric Roselund, and Mike MacWhinnie, who are running a Village Missions booth at Kingdom Bound, August 3-6. With two days done and two to go they have been able to talk with a lot of people about Village Missions.  Please continue to pray over the next couple of days.

Lennie and Roy Adrian will be on vacation for the next couple of weeks. They will be working with, and ministering to, a youth group from Saskatchewan. Pray for safety for all who are involved.

Lennie Adrian’s sister Marlene is back in the hospital and they do not know what is wrong. They are taking her back to the hospital in Kelowna, so it looks very serious. Please keep her in your prayers.
