Nov 2: Henry & Marilyn Vandermeer, Western Canada District Representatives

vandermeerWe have 22 churches for which we provide support and encouragement. We regularly visit these churches twice a year as a minimum. Many are small, and a number have been without a pastor for multiple years, causing them to be discouraged. We are starting the process of implementing the Contenders Initiative and we look forward to seeing what God is going to do in the lives of the individuals and churches involved. Pray for safety as we travel and energy to provide for the needs presented. Pray that God would raise up a new generation of pastors seeking to “Preach the Word and Love the People” of rural Canada!

As You Pray This Week

man prayingPraise the Lord! This past weekend Brian, Jim Cross, and Tim Griffiths were able to attend the New Gloucester Banquet. We were able to match the $10,000 matching fund and had many out that had never heard about Village Missions.
Pray for Brian and Jim Cross as they attend the ANAM Board Meeting at Cedine Ministries in Spring City, Tennessee.
Pray for Mike and Judie Jones’ trip next week to Indiana and Michigan. On October 30,  Mike will be meeting with a church to help them transition from a long serving missionary, who is retiring, to new leadership. This missionary served over 25 years there so this a new process for most in the church and on the church board.

On November 1, Mike will be speaking at a Leader’s Retreat in Michigan. Pray that the Lord will use the three sessions in the lives of those attending. On November 2 Mike will be visiting two of our churches/missionaries in Michigan.

Lennie Adrian’s sister Marlene is back in the hospital. They discovered that she had four times the proper levels of Dilatin in her system. We might ask: how does stuff like this happen, but we know and trust that God is in control, taking her down a road that will draw her to Himself. Please pray for Marlene – especially that she will draw close to the Lord.

Please pray for the National Board of Directors as they prepare for their fall meetings coming up next week in Dallas, Oregon. Also, pray for the Canadian Board members as they prepare for their meeting the following week.

Please pray for the upcoming Village Missions Banquet in Dallas, Oregon, on November 7.   Pray for the details of the event to come together.

October 26: Tom & Karen Douglass, Absecon, NJ

Douglass TomGalloway is located in southern New Jersey, 10 miles west of Atlantic City. With three of the casinos closing their doors this fall, pray for the thousands of people that will be losing their jobs. This will greatly affect this area economically. Also, pray for our various ministries, including our Celebrate Recovery ministry, and for our son Jonathan as he heads up that ministry. Finally, pray that God would touch people’s hearts to come faithfully to church beginning this fall.

October 19: Gordon & Val Rowland, Clive, AB

rowlandClive is a village of about 700 people in the middle of a large agricultural area in central Alberta. There is also a great deal of oil and industry in the area. There are two large petrochemical plants within 15 miles of Clive that employ over 2000 people, so most people who live here commute to work or work away for days or weeks at a time. Our church is composed of mostly older people. Several of them now reside in various care homes in the area. Praise God for the love our people have for one another and the way they care for each other. Pray that we would have wisdom in ministering to the elderly in our congregation. Pray that our little church would continue to be a beacon of hope and truth in our community.

As You Pray This Week…

man prayingThank you for praying for Carole and Brian’s visit to Faith Community Church in Gambrills, MD.  They had many opportunities to share about the ministry of Village Missions. Please pray that the church might consider adding Village Missions to its budget. Please pray also for other opportunities to share the ministry of Village Missions with churches interested in reaching the rural areas of our two countries for Christ.

Please pray for Brian as he is now at Moody Bible Institute representing Village Missions at their annual mission conference. Pray also for Dave and Joann Hernandez and Phil Rownd who are with him. Pray that students will be excited about the possibility of serving with Village Missions. Pray for them as they present a total of 5 seminars and interact with students.

Please pray for Tim Griffiths as he travels to Maine this week to visit the churches and to help with a banquet that will be held in New Gloucester on October 25.

By the time you read this, Canadian Thanksgiving will have come and gone. But Roy and Lennie Adrian are ever grateful for the work of Village Missions. It has and continues to have a profound impact on our lives and on the lives of so many in rural Canada. Praise God for His work in the lives of so many on the fields we serve.

October 12: Sam & Rachel Whittaker, Rockaway Beach, OR

Whittaker, Sam RachelLocated in Tillamook County on the Oregon coast, this coastal community mainly consists of retirees and vacationers. Rockaway is part of a chain of smaller towns along the coast, with Tillamook being the main hub for employment and shopping. Summers bring many visitors and an influx of income to the area, but pray for when those seasonal visitors go home and many residents are laid off and struggling to financially survive to the next summer. There are many people with a deep need for Jesus in their lives, but they have little interest. Like many other small towns, Rockaway has not been immune to the difficulties of drugs. These are a large influence and we’ve seen how it impacts the area and destroys families. Pray for a door of opportunity as we seek to point families to the hope we have in Jesus and His love and salvation. Two main ways we are trying to reach the community this fall are with Family Movie Nights and the Fall Harvest Festival – an event put on by our church as a safe alternative to trick-or-treating. Pray these community events will bring more people into contact with the Gospel.

October 5: Skip & Venita Pullen, Watersmeet, MI

pullenWe are nestled in the Ottawa National Forest. Logging and tourism are the main industries, though logging has been on the decline. There are year-round opportunities for hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and skiing in the region. There are over 300 lakes and rivers in the area. The Lac Vieux Desert Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa have a reservation here. Please pray for our Good News Club and ministry to the schoolchildren. We have men’s and ladies’ Bible studies, as well as various discipleship groups, that meet weekly. Pray for continued spiritual growth in the lives of the people. Pray that the Lord will bring a harvest to our area.

As You Pray This Week

man prayingWhen you get this, we will be entering an important phase of our candidate school as the candidates organize a worship service and give their testimonies on Thursday night, receive a final challenge on Friday, and then are individually interviewed Friday evening. Please pray for both candidates and staff as together we seek God’s direction as to whether they are called to ministry with Village Missions!

Please pray for Carole and Brian as they travel October 7 to Gambrills, MD, to represent Village Missions at the Faith Community Church Missions’ Conference. Good friends of Village Missions, Frank and Jo Knipe, attend this church and helped us to have this first opportunity to present the ministry of Village Missions. If you attend a church that is unfamiliar with Village Missions, we would certainly appreciate the opportunity to share the great things God is doing in rural North America through Village Missions!

Please pray for David & Joann Hernandez and Tim Griffiths as they represent Village Missions at the STEER Conference in Bismarck, ND. Please pray for traveling mercies as we travel to North Dakota.

This weekend Lennie and Roy Adrian will be attending a mini conference in the Vernon area, with several Village Missionary families. Pray that this will be a refreshing and profitable time for all who attend.

Bill and Lorna Powell (Eastern Canadian District Representatives) would appreciate prayer for our Village Missions banquet in Toronto, Canada, on Thursday, October 2. Pray for good weather as many who will attend are seniors. Pray for Jonathan and Doralyn Elgby who will be the featured Village Missionaries. Pray for the wonderful ladies who are putting on this dinner for Village Missions.
