As You Pray This Week

prayer-requests1Thank you for bringing Village Missions to the throne of grace. As you pray this week, please keep these things in mind.

Pray for Brian and Carole as they leave this week for the Phoenix area. Brian will be preaching March 14 at Venture Out RV Resort, where a group of 600+ meet for Sunday worship and March 21 he will have 10 minutes to present Village Missions at Palm West Community Church in Sun City West. They will be making several visits to donors as well.

Pray for applicants as the deadline for formal applications is March 15. Pray for wisdom for Mike Jones, Assistant Director and the District Representatives as they review the applications and conduct interviews.

Pray for Village Missionaries Jim and Brenda Harkabus, from Lakehead, CA as they mourn the passing of their daughter Faith, who was almost 26.

Pray for retired Village Missionaries Jim and Nancy Kane as Jim struggles with Alzheimer’s.

March 14: Tom & Jennifer Craig, Skykomish, WA

Craig-TSkykomish is an old railroad town an hour or so east of Monroe, WA. About 500 people live between here and Barring, a small town about 8 miles west of us down the pass. Most people who live here year-round work in the Seattle area. This community is very dark spiritually, with a lot of closed hearts toward the Gospel. We have a very small congregation of 15-20 people that love getting together to fellowship and learn from the Lord. Please pray that the love of the church would continue to abound abundantly toward one another and the community, and that those in the body would continue to be encouraged. Pray for those who have recently committed their lives to the Lord, that the Lord would faithfully grow them in Him. Above all, pray that the Lord would start a revival here in the Sky Valley and that as we share the Gospel on a consistent basis, many people would commit their lives to the Lord. Please also pray the passage of Isaiah 58 for us. Thank you!

March 7: Tom & Rebecca Gerbrandt, Gwynne, AB

Gerbrandt-Tom-BeckyThis small rural farming community, in the heart of a picturesque valley, sits halfway between 2 small cities about 15 minutes away. The men’s breakfasts are becoming a great outreach in the area; more men come each time. Pray that we may touch lives for Christ through this. We have some other outreach ministries in mind that need a lot of work to get up & running. Pray that God will lead us in each step of the process.

February 28: Steve & Shawna Matthews, Oak, NE

Matthews1We’re in a farming area of SE Nebraska, very near the border of Kansas, with fields of corn and soybeans. Our town has about 50-60 people; Oak is a great community, with good people. This is the only church in town, so everyone considers it their church. Pray for us and our outreach into the community. Pray for spiritual and physical growth for the church, that the people would see the need to have Jesus in their life, and that people would love each other and be understanding.

February 21: Mike & Kim Kunkle, Quaker Street, NY

KunklesOur area, in the hill towns west of Albany, is beautiful. We have a lot of hunters and hard-working people. Quaker Street Bible Church and Delanson are a fairly close community. The church family is warm & friendly and not hard to please – they are very laid back. Pray for balance in time management between work on the physical church building, Bible study, and local outreach. We would like to see more involvement of men in the church, not only in attendance, but in ministry as well. In our own personal lives, we need to spend more time with the family and to live a life that honors the Lord.

As You Pray This Week

prayer-requests1Thank you for bringing Village Missions before the Lord. Please keep these special needs in mind as you pray this week.

1. Pray that God will give Village Missionaries spiritual discernment and protection as they advance the Gospel in communities that need the hope found in our Savior.
2. Pray that God will send more workers for the harvest.
3. Pray for strength and contentment as many Village Missionaries are far removed from children and grandchildren.

Thank you for praying!

February 14: Guy & Geni Shields, Shan Creek, OR

Shields-GOur church is nestled in the wooded rolling hills of SW Oregon, within earshot of the Rogue River. Although our address is Grants Pass, we’re 16 miles west of town and considered to be in the ‘county.’ This was a thriving logging area, but now tourism, retirees, and small businesses play a major part in the local economy. About 2,000 people live on Riverbanks Road in close proximity to the church. However, many properties are gated, making contact difficult. We use bulk mailings as one way to get information about the church into the homes. Pray that God will pour out His Spirit upon His people, that the life & ministry of SCCBC might be well-pleasing to Him and effective in the work of the Kingdom. It’s a blessing to serve alongside so many faithful servants of the Lord. Many in this congregation are involved in ministry in the church, as well as serving in other ministries, like CEF, New Hope Christian School, and the Gospel Rescue Mission. Pray that more children/teens will come to Sunday school. Praise the Lord for a strong Awana ministry; ask the Lord to bring more children/teens from the Riverbanks Road community. Pray for the salvation of those who attend but do not yet trust Christ as their Savior. Pray for the believers to grow in their knowledge of our Lord and Savior and to bring honor and glory to His name as they walk faithfully with Him.
