MAY 4: John & Sara Duerksen, Caron, SK

duerksens.jpgThe hamlet of Caron is nestled into the south slope of a valley that runs east and west along the Trans-Canada Highway. Industry in the surrounding area is a mixture of grain farming, ranching, and dairies. Some of Caron’s 120+ residents are employed by those industries, or work in the city of Moose Jaw, about a 20-minute drive to the east. Some residents are self-employed carpenters or mechanics. We also enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of young families along with the experience and wisdom of those who have retired, as together we contribute to the strength of our community. The Caron Church began as a result of an outreach program for kids in January, 1995. Even though we have experienced difficult times as many churches do, God has blessed us and there is ongoing evidence of His working in people’s lives – developing them into what He wants them to be for Him. Opportunities to minister to those who do not yet know Christ continue to present themselves to us, and we have had the awesome privilege of leading some of those people to Christ for salvation. Our desire is to be ever alert and faithful in those opportunities, and we would invite you to pray with us that our testimony for Christ will continue to make a difference.
