Prayer Spotlight

Tumalo Community Church is about five miles NW of Bend on Hwy 20, and has been serving the unincorporated town of Tumalo since 1907. We are in high desert country with the majestic snowcapped mountains of the Cascades Range nearby that provide lots of recreation.

The building industry has suffered greatly with the downturn of the economy and many people are out of work. Most of our regular attendees are 50+ and we are seeking to reach the next generation with the Gospel so we can pass on the torch of leadership.

Please pray for unity among the believers, children’s ministry outreach, and women’s ministry outreach. We have a great men’s group that meets every Tuesday morning for Bible memorization and fellowship.

We are thankful for you! Thank you for upholding Village Missions in prayer throughout the year!

God has answered prayer by providing for our recently accepted candidate couples. Homes have been sold and support levels have been met. We now have five couple who are very close to being placed on a field. Please pray that these couples will be placed where they can serve the Lord most effectively.

Village Missions has a self-funded health insurance plan for our U.S. Village Missionaries. We provide this coverage so that our families with many children, our missionaries with health problems, and our missionaries that serve our struggling churches will have adequate coverage. The recent changes generated by the health care legislation, as well as some serious health issues of our missionaries, have made it more difficult to provide the coverage. Please pray for the health of our missionary family. Also, please pray for the wisdom of our Benefit Board as they try to find savings as well as providing the best care possible for our missionary family.

Please pray for the finances of Village Missions. We ended our fiscal year in June in the black, but we are now running a significant deficit. Two major factors are contributing to this. First, many churches we serve have experienced a downturn in their offerings, resulting in a decline in their giving to Village Missions. Second, our poorest churches have also experienced a decline and this has caused a significant increase in the amount of salary support we are providing. Please pray that God would move in the hearts of all those who are burdened for reaching the lost across our country, and that we would have wisdom in navigating through these challenging waters. We have seen God again and again provide and we have no doubt, especially as we see the great transformations taking place in individuals, churches, and even communities, that we will see Him meet these needs.

The town of Springfield is in northeast Maine, about 21 miles in every direction from different communities. The main thing that keeps our economy going is the woods industry: cutting & hauling logs or processing logs at the mils. We’re surrounded by mountains, forests, and lakes. Many come to enjoy the summers at their camps, but the winters are long and hard.

The church is about 28 years old, and we’ve been here 19 years. We are the only Christ-centered church for miles, and we are trying to reach our area for the Lord. We recently launched a bus ministry to pick up kids in our area for Sunday school and junior church. Please pray that we can fill the bus with young people, and that they will be saved and we can get them grounded in the Word of God. Reaching this generation of kids is vital for the longevity of the church.

Please pray for Village Missionaries to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to walk daily in His power. Pray that they will speak the Word of God with boldness.

Our District Representatives are meeting in Dallas, Oregon, this week. Please pray for wisdom and unity as they seek to effectively minister to the missionaries in their care, and also to search out new Village Missionaries.

Loma is on the western slope of Colorado, between Grand Junction and the Utah border. The Grand Valley is a 4,500-foot high desert that is fully irrigated, allowing for farming and ranching throughout.

We are a body of believers growing-up in Christ. Each day we seek to do our job of impacting and influencing our relational worlds for Christ with our lives, actions, and words, and with how we use the resources God has given us to manage – including our time, energy, and money.

We are a spread-out community. Most people drive a short distance to Fruita or a bit further to Grand Junction for everything. Because of this, and because Loma does not have a central gathering environment of any kind, our greatest potential to reach this community is through personal witness with family, friends, neighbors, and others.

Our prayer is that each person that calls Loma Community Church their home will live lives honoring and glorifying to God, “Shining the Light of Christ to our Community and Beyond.” Please pray for continued spiritual growth of our church, commitment to seek God’s best for us, and our outreach to the surrounding communities.

Our friends at Association of North American Missions are kicking off their Leadership Mentoring program this week. The Elisha Initiative brings together new young leaders to prepare for the challenges of the next generation. Please pray that God will raise up his choice servants to lead our missionary efforts into the future.

Please pray for the Trustees of our benefit plan as they meet this Thursday. The Trustees are responsible for directing our self-funded medical plan that covers all of our U.S. missionary families.

Please continue in prayer for the U.S. Board of Village Missions as it meets November 9-10. Pray for journey mercies for those traveling as well as wisdom.

The year-round population of Wasa Lake is 400, which swells to 1400 during the summer months. Wasa Lake is the warmest lake in the Kootenays and many people have “summer homes” in the area. Wasa Lake is in a fairly large valley between the Purcell Mountain Range to our west and the Rocky Mountains to the east. We are 4 hours SW of Calgary, AB, or 4 hours NE from Spokane, WA.

The major industries in the area are forestry and recreation, with a lot of hiking, fishing, boating, golfing, skiing, and other forms of recreation that can occupy people’s time. So many recreation options in the area is seen as a benefit, but in regards to the church, it is very much a distraction. People would rather play than pray!

The church serves Wasa Lake, TaTa Creek, and Skookumchuck, with some people coming from Cranbrook and Kimberley as well. Please pray for ideas on how to reach this community for Christ. A lot of people say that this is their church but have never set foot inside of it, other than for a funeral or memorial service. Pray that those coming to the church will be more committed to the fellowship, and that they will have a vision for those who need to hear about Christ.

McKenna is located in the country between beautiful Mt. Rainier and Olympia, the capital of Washington. Pray for a better commitment of prayer by the people of the church, and a better understanding of the Holy Spirit’s work in the life of a believer. Also, pray for our evangelistic outreach to connect with non-believers who need the Gospel.

Thank you for praying for Brian and Carole Wechsler’s trip to Colorado. The E.C.F.A. conference on board governance was extremely helpful for Brian and board chair, Glen Hanson.

Brian and Carole enjoyed good visits with donors, including one gentleman who had been led to Christ by a Village Missionary after he retired to that area. They also had a fantastic visit to Kendrick, CO. Kendrick Bible Church was struggling when we assigned Ed and Sarah Vesser to serve there in 2009, but is now a vibrant church body with a wide range of ages.
